16.5” rifle length gas is what I have on my precision rig and that’s using a Spikes gas block which has the collar built in front.

A Mk12 is a rifle length system and the gas block is fully visible out in front of the long RAS.

Boredom/ADD maybe? Some folks love the process of specing everything, getting the parts in and assembled. Then they shoot it a few times but revert back to something else and it ends up sitting.

ETA: It's also Christmas, so maybe they're offloading them to free up some cash for presents.

I agree, I ended up selling my upper because I had two, but I can see people getting bored, especially with the 11.5-12.5 being the hotness right now.

HNNNNNNGGGG! I just secured a Colt 14.5 upper, just need an MRE to round out the little brother to your Recce. I like the gold standard clone, but these offshoot clones tug on the panties with just a little more finesse. Now to get the paperwork started on an NT4 hopefully in January or February.

I can’t decide between a seal Recce or a mk12 Mod 1 right now. I am leaning toward The mod 1 because there is an ITW pic of a Mod H with an ACOG and I want to build it. This is swaying me the other way. I like this look too.

I've been working on a Recce and Mod 1 for some time now simultaneously. Definitely slows things down but it's helped find some damn good deals. I can almost see the finish line.

Next up: optics. Been putting this off until the end because I wasn't sure which route to take. For the Recce I have the upper, barrel, and lower in the
very early 2000s. Which makes me lean toward Leupy VX-III 2.5-8. I'm sure the clone gods will show me the way.

Compass Lake makes good stuff, but they’ve had problems with getting the flush fit if you are particular about that.  If I end up doing the Grendel Recce I’m planning, the barrel will be going to D. Wilson for the chop.

I’m not really worried about the Flush Fit look, heck if it’s sticking out 1/16” or even 1/8” I’d be ok with it Plus being in CA we can’t have suppressors anyways, plus It can’t stop me looking good for the gram right lol with my Faux-@ss Can.. lmao

Soon... Very soon. Colt AF and Gen 1 SOPMOD. Still haven't decided on optic, but now that overthinking has set in, I'm not sure whatever I pick will stick around. I have thought about going outside the box and slapping an Aimpoint 7000SC (released 2001 so right in line with the barrel stamp date of 05/01) in some Nightforce A203 rings, but as cool as that sounds I imagine pitchforks and torches coming out I have an Aimpoint 5000 but I'm keeping that in my Operation Gothic Serpent rig.

@Dobs013

How much does this weigh? The NSW recce was my first interest in ARs, never had one, but keep wondering if I should do it as my one "do it all" gun. But then I get caught up wondering if a match barrel under a modern MLOK handguard wouldn't be better.

I have a CAR stock on my OGS and to be honest I'm not super thrilled about it so I settled on the Gen 1. That's what got me thinking outside the box on optic choices.

Might look for an LMT gen 1 if you are going for all 2001 period, maybe an m68 or TA01NSN acog for optic.
