Finally got to take her out with the new barrel. Didn't go out to shoot tiny groups, just to zero, but this barrel does like the PSA AAC 77gr SMK. When I was getting rough zero at 50, they were stacking right on each other.

But why no paint?

Also, no such thing as ‘didn’t go out to shoot tight groups.’ Do you want a shitty zero, or is your glass on?

Shoot tight groups, or don’t shoot at all. Upper right is a 3rd (almost on) and 5rd (we’re zeroed) group.

I don't remember if I had the old barrel painted or not. Usually, it's all hidden under my fake can.

The zero is spot-on, I just didn't take the time to wring out any movement out of my setup and just to verify function and break it in a bit.

I finally picked up a Vari-X III. I have an LT-104 on the way and will be switching out a few small parts like the trigger guard, Sopmod for an ACS, curved trigger instead of the flat Geissele.

Curious about the Recce rail as it relates to adding any rigidity in alignment to the forearm for use with NV/Thermal Clip-On's.
PRI says the Recce rail "ties the receiver to the PRI carbon fiber forearms top rail". Perhaps I am wrong but I do not see where the front of the rail gets mechanically tied to the forearm.

@M4AZ
I have had a PVS-26, 30, and 27 and all were mounted to traditional machined rails so I am curious about the carbon fiber/accessory rail set up you are utilizing to mount your KAC PVS-30. I see you removed the Recce rail with your new scope setup. Assuming it did not add any benefit as far as rigidity to the forearm.

So given your current setup are you completely comfortable with your 30 being attached solely to that style of accessory rail on a carbon fiber forearm? Have you noticed any lack of rigidity or flex given the weight of the 30?.

Thanks

Out on the front of the rail there's a screw that secures the Recce rail to a lug in the 12 o'clock picatinny rail.

Yes, drive. What you can't see is the drop-off just past the berm in front of me with equipment peeking up over the edge. The target is on top of a large pile of crushed asphalt just below that large tree in the middle of the pic. I shoot in a quarry owned by my inlwas so I have to get creative to shoot beyond 100 yards.

245 yards head shots on 1/3rd IPSC plate was getting boring so I tossed in the 22lr conversion. Once I got about 87 MOA dialed in, I was getting about 50% hits. I could occasionally see a glint of sunlight on the round as it dropped in. Looked like artillery dropping in.

What do you mean ‘failed under considerable low pressure?’

When I was locking it into place I wasn't applying much force to the arm. The first one got noticeably tighter as the arm got to its final lock down position. I had just barely started the clamp down on the second one when it happened.

It failed in the same location as this persons

I've snapped a few levers back in my .mil days with seemingly little pressure. I've also had levers that required prying tools to lock and unlock that didn't break.

Damn. Wonder if that’s caused by a pic rail that’s out of spec or the ARMS mount having a flaw. Maybe a little of both?
Link Posted: 7/29/2024 8:48:09 PM EDT
[#30]
Seemed like a defective part to me. The other one went on fine with considerably more force than I applied to the one that broke. This was my first time using it and it was brand new, so its not like it experiences fatigue in the past.

Picked up some mk4 rings for the Leupold scope. H’s just don’t  look right without the recce top rails to me and it sat to high with a 1.5 ims mount with the rail when using with a clip on. Got some 1.06 rings and we’re back in business.

Which Optic and mount configuration for the 6mm ARC Clone of my Mod H Clone??  I could go with the MK5 in the FDE IMS mount not pictured or stick with either the Mil Dot x32 or Mil/Mil x24 in either the M110 Tano Mount or the A107's................

I like the SOCOM but I fucking love the ACS on this setup and since I had this badass unfired CLE 15.1" Recce barrel just sitting I decided to build a Mod H Clone of my H Clone only in 6 ARC with the ACS........................

I say put the highest mag/best glass quality on it that’s clone correct. 6ARC is meant to be a distance cartridge, so put some glass on it that can take advantage of that BC.
