I've placed orders in the past (10+ years ago?) but ended up canceling every single one after determining that the product was not in stock. No issues getting refunded. I've never attempted to place another in all these years due to the stories about fulfillment failures.

From what I have heard, they are much better now than they were back in the... dark days. And they do have good prices. You will probably be okay if you order from them.

I’ve never had a problem with them. But I’ve also never had an issue with Optics Planet (20 orders in just the last 14 months) So either I’m the luckiest SOB this side of the Mississippi or some of the reported issues were user error.

I've had good luck, maybe 5 orders or so.
The first one was an IR OTAL laser. It was out of stock everywhere, they offered to backorder. It took a few months, but came in within a few days of their predicted ship date. Can't complain. |

I've got probably 20-30 orders thru Botach over the last few years never been fucked yet! Optics Planet as stated you got to click on the check availabity button beside said item or you may be stuck on hold for many a month yet I've had nothing but excellent service from them including returns...........

Many years ago they were anathema, lots of horror stories.

I got "Botached".
Ordered a flash hider (an AAC 51T, specific part that I needed). Waited about 2 weeks for it to ship. Contacted customer service, and was told they're shipping it out next week. 2 more weeks go by. Called again. Same story. Waited one more week. Called again. Guy told me they're unsure when it will arrive for them to send to me. He clarified that no, they don't have the part on hand (unlike what I was told the last 2 times I called) and they have no anticipated date for getting them to ship. Cancelled the order, got an instant refund which was nice. But wasted a month of my life to save like 5 dollars over the other guys that had them in stock. Haven't shopped there in years and years now. Never again. |

However, I think the problem had to do with me looking for rare, hard-to-find stuff that wasn't at Midway, Brownell's, etc. and web searches would turn up inventory for them they either never had or had at one time, but sold out of and the website(s) would go the "Backorder" route for parts no longer in production. I remember the complaints about them, probably 10-15 years ago, and never ordered from them back then. However, I placed about a half-dozen orders there, 2-3 years ago - before a mag capacity ban dropped in my state. I had no problems whatsoever, and the prices were really good. They had LE department trade-in Colt 20 rd AR magazines, listed as in used condition- I picked up a few, and they were all in almost new condition.

Love them.
No issues, around a dozen purchases from them. I usually only buy something if it’s heavily discounted, widely advertised and I’m usually late to hear about it. Just bought a bag on sale. It showed to be the last one in stock and I left it in the cart for at least twenty minutes looking for a better or cheaper bag for what I need. If anyone should have trouble with them it should be me. Their cheapest shipping has always been fast to TX. Optics Planet has tried to sell me something they didn’t have, charged right away then ordered it from whatever warehouse. Unknown wait time. Had to call and cancel. Almost every time I’m looking for some discontinued part that I know no one has they show up on the first search page. |
