Mask everything you don't want painted 2. Lay your lightest color down first 3. Take your stenciling (grass, mesh, etc.) and your darkest color, and shoot your streaks 4. Go back with your lighter color and fog it again with your stenciling 5. Go back with all your colors and fill in and blend anywhere you see too harsh of a color contrast; I like my paint jobs to have softer edges 6. Set to dry and unmask it I generally only use two colors: FDE and khaki. When I shoot FDE over khaki, it darkens the khaki, which is why I finish with the khaki because it helps blend it all in and gives me the full range of color in those two spectrums. Next time I do an entire rifle, I'll take pics of the entire process and label them for everyone. |

Honestly, painting is something a lot of people overthink. I once tried to mix OD-green into my scheme but it just didn't work well, so I dropped it and I just use khaki and FDE now. And I'm a BIG fan of the mesh patterning, but I just use a small swatch and reposition it as I move along. |

I was flirting with the idea of finding a lighter green to use to give it a DCU theme but I'm quite content with how it looks with just two colors. And again, fresh khaki has a different shade than khaki that's had FDE fogged over it, so there's plenty of shades to experiment with. |

I use the Rustoleum camo colors from Home Depot. Khaki, Dark Earth (almost like Daniel Defense RIS II color), and some olive. I really like the contrast between khaki and the dark earth. Works well with the mesh.

View Quote I've wondered about that as well - though it could simply be that people talking about or asking about left handed modifications and issues tend to be more distinctive than the vast majority that you never really hear talking about, or having problems with a righty-favoring configuration. I can't say I've ever really tried to do a statistical analysis on the issue. That being said, I'm pretty sure the guy with the 14.5" '416 and Grippod is holding that rifle with his right hand. ~Augee |

Looked like his RMR was on the left side, which would only make sense if he was a lefty; but looking closer it seems I just was wrong and it is actually right side mounted. |

I'm confused as well, but for the sake of conversation... It could be an eye dominance issue. I'm right handed, but left eye dominant so I shoot rifles leftie. Pistols I'm able to shoot with both eyes open so I can still use my right hand. |

That guy is Dom Raso, and I am 99.9% sure he is right handed.
Edit: Nor do I believe it has anything to do with eye dominance, I think it is just the picture. The RMR appears to be angled to the right from what I can tell. |
