Hi all, looking for advice on what to value this for insurance purposes.

I just inherited this family relic.  It is a T. Bailey percussion pistol, manufactured in New Orleans around 1855.  It was a gift from the father of the bride to my great, great, great, grandfather and has been in the family ever since.  The engraved plate has the names and the the date 1855.

I would never sell it, but feel like it may be valuable enough for a rider on my homeowners.

Your agent may refuse to insure it, as its value is literally irreplaceable, or value it perhaps as a museum piece, requiring it to be secured like one. Or you can ignore the family history and simply look on Gun Broker for pistols of that type being sold and get an idea of approximate value, then request to be insured for that valuation. Talk to your agent, they will know much more about it than me.

Rick from pawn stars says you have to shoot it for it to be valuable..

Maybe you should touch her off one time with a light load?

Carry it Captain Sparrow style. One shot, not meant for you.. lol.
