Thanks for the info PFran, I was looking at the larger CCRKs and did not see that smaller guy.

And jd0509, do you have any more info on the med insert setup in the Crye pouch? I have those MBITR pouches and was considering selling them but I think your idea is a really good one.

I actually saw it here a few weeks ago in either this thread or the gear porn one, but I can't find it right now.  That individual used the ATS med tray inside of the pouch.

The guys on here showed me the light on a trick with bicycle inner tube to strap things down like tourniquets.  Rubber bands always tore for me so it's worked out really well.

I'll have to look into that I used to have the tourniquet on my belt which is what I train with mostly and it kept breaking the rubber band.

I tried the Tourniquet Now from Blue Force Gear and I thought it would get in the way and restrict quick removal of the Tourniquet but after testing it about 50 times,  I am a believer in the product. My CAT and SOFTT-Ws pull out easier than with the rubber band approach.

Anyone ever add shoulder pads to their PC?
I've seen a few commercial available ones, any inputs?

I added these to mine and am extremely happy. Lots of padding from chest over the shoulder to the back, perfect for holding my water tube in place as well.

I was looking at this as well. I went to walmart last night and bought a bicycle inner tube to make some bands out of and it seems that it would be a little tough to get the tourniquet off when it is attached with the inner tube bands. I am going to leave it for a while and see how it works. The inner tube is definitely a big improvement over the rubber band though.

My carriers straps are pretty thin with 0 give.
I was running around with it on pretty hard last week and it bruised up my shoulders with esapis in it.
It seems to sag a little after running so i was thinking a little padding will help keep it lifted up a little as well.

If it sags, tighten the straps. As for the rest...if the pads don't get in the way, use em. No reason to hurt if you don't have to. Fwiw, I've been using an SPC with no pads for years.

Time to put mine on here.
Mayflower APC with LG Esapi plates. Velocity System backers and cummerbund inserts. From left to right: Tactical Tailor GP pouch, Endom 3o2 pistol pouch, BFG Ten Speed, ATS staggered double M4, Paraclete Canadian SOF IFAK and BFG tourniquet now strap on a Tactical Tailor tear away panel. Top admin a MSM small patch panel.

Got the carrier back in 2011 on a special deal from SKD. I've used it in training in Texas and Hawaii. Now it gets used in Central America. Light and slim, the way plate carriers should be.

It's a little heavier than the STT that I had set up for a while, but set up lighter than the Banshee I had before that.  I need to pick up some large ESAPI's for it, but the 10"x12" plates I already had seem to fit ok for the meantime.

I posted this PC earlier in the thread, but i have made some changes and started piecing it together. I still need to add an IFAK, I am leaning towards the ITS Tallboy for that (right now I'm using an old canteen pouch ).

I also need to decide what plates I want to get for it. I am leaning towards going in balls deep, skipping steel, and going straight for a pair of level IV Spartan plates from TheTargetMan.

This was one of the black, $50 Defend-X PC's from Shellback that was an over run produced for the Saudi Royal Guard. I painted it once, but it wasn't quite right, so I painted it again .

Right now I have a Tactical Tailor Fight Light triple mag pouch, and 2 Tactical Tailor Fight Light single mag pouches on it. It it still a work in progress, and I'm sure there will be some more changes.

I had to get the Pork Eating Crusader patch, considering I was raised Catholic and we are pork producers.

Does that have the buckles on the shoulder straps. I bought a Banshee and the buckles on the shoulder straps really interfere with how i shoulder my rifle.

This has me looking for a new carrier.

No buckles, it's all velcro other than where the straps connect to the PC.

It came with shoulder pads,I took them off because I think it's more comfortable without them (haven't had plates in it yet to really judge).

The PC hasn't interfered with shouldering a rifle during the short time I have used it (once again, without plates).

I did this to my Banshee and it works great.  Just buy one set from SKD  and replace the bulky buckles. http://www.skdtac.com/P-I-G-Plate-Carrier-G-Hook-Double-D-Ring-Kit-p/pig.207.htm

I'll have to look at my rig and see how the buckles attach. I  thought the female end of the buckle was permanently attached to the front of the carrier, but i could be wrong.

I think the older ones are solid but you could just clip them, but the newer ones are precut so they come right off.

You are going to want the carrier to be pretty snug. Even then, the plates will move a little if you happen to be running or jumping. The top of the plate should be at the level of your suprasternal notch.

Another thing you can do is get some Level III soft armor. I have some nice Level IV stand alone plates but as you can see by my pictures i normally just have soft Level 3 in. it offers protection but its a LOT more comfortable to wear when just doing LOW risk stuff in and out of vehicles and hiking and such. I mean most of us are NEVER (let alone every day) going to be in a situation where we need level IV plates. That way you have some protection and a comfortable way to carry extra mags and gear.
just a thought.

Seriously.

Yup!
Why not? i patrol with a level III soft vest in a city, why not wear a comfortable plate carrier that hold all my stuff better when doing a special event in the hot desert sun in a place where guns aren't allowed? i'd take that over a level 3 under my long sleeve shirt. But i guess if you all think you're taking rifle fire at your job all day then you should probably add the 14lbs of weight to your outfit.

LE M16 MK18, Banshee (with level IV stand alone multi hit plates), MSA, M4-2000. 2 tourniquets, IFAK, Glock mag, 3 rifle mags, light, multitool, benchmade CBK, pouch with stuff.

My current warrant service gig.

Sapi Plate Carrier (front and back)
Lvl 4 Plates
Woosatch Shoulder Pads
Rifle/Pistol Taco x 2
Radio Pouch
Beefed up IFAK

I run mine a bit different than some. Two extra pistol mags, but I utilize the rifle portion of the taco for CAT-Ts. No rifle mags. I run a coupled mag on my rifle. I like the slim-ish build.

Only thing that will be changing is I'm picking up a PC with cummerbund and some side plates, since this setup is pretty much relegated completely to hitting doors.

I sift through these posts all the time and since you all have given me so many good ideas for equipment, I'd thought I'd share my set up.

The caveat is that IDGAF about colors matching.  Anyway here we go:

My equipment has been very compartmentalized for my specific roles and jobs, plus I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on multiples of the same pouches to fit across the different armor systems I have to wear.  In this instance, this is my IOTV set up.  First image is as slick as it goes, when I don't have to have my fighting crap attached.  The knife is literally for my own enjoyment and not always there.  Notice the 6 qsam buckles

IOTV with rack attached.  This is a custom creation from the fine patriot at Down Range Gear (downrangegear.net).  I wanted a chest rig modified so the suspenders could be attached and detached, and he whipped this beauty up.

Battle Belt.  I'm not sure why we went away from the pistol belt.  This sucker really should be issued.  Anyway, that's as much crap as I'll put on it.  I ride in vehicles a lot or fly and can't have crap along my back.  The seat belts are a bit stretched with the pistol being there, but it does work while flying instead of moving the thing to my chest.

Here is the chest rig detached and a harness hooked up.  The harness is cannibalized from another system, and works but something better is being created.  The idea with this set up is that I can (using six qsam buckles) move my set up from armor system to armor system and have the exact same stuff where I expect it to be when I reach for it.  Plus it saves the time of removing and reattaching pouches.  Also, I can go off to the range on my own time or do dry fire fun time with just the chest rig and not an armor system when it is 90/99 out side.

Chest rig rolled up on itself.  Very nice to travel with in this set up.
