One of my college instructors was married to a WWF wrestler and she told us stories of them practicing in the ring they set up in the back yard.

Andrea the Giant was my favorite.  Anyone want a peanut?

How we all learned the importance of a good work ethic. In particular, when you don't do the job right, you don't get paid.

"Look at that, Virgil. Look at the poverty..."

Dusty Rhodes Attacks Tully Blanchard

I watched this a few years ago.   It was when Magnum T.A. came back from his car accident.   To this day it looks like Dusty was beating the shit out of Telly for real.

Didn’t read through the thread. In elementary school, a buddy’s dad was somehow friends with George the Animal Steele. Got him to come to our class as a show and tell or something.

Was cool, but never got into it.

Well there were parts of NWA that was real. The Horsemen really hated Dusty Rhoades. They actually broke his damn leg doing the "garage jump" bit because they just got way to into it.

Piper was AWESOME!! He ran his mouth and didn't give 2 shits about it. The "heroes" wouldn't have been shit without the greatest villain ever.  I'm glad that Flair was in NWA at the time. They were good friends and I would have hated to have to pick one over the other.

Sad going through life that way.

I loved it when the Iron Sheik finally knocked off Bob Backlund and Hulk Hogan had to win the title back for America.

Texas, around 67 to 71. Dick Murdock, Killer Karl Knox, Funk Sr and Jr, Harley Race, Don Slatton, Ricky Romero, Wahoo McDaniel, Brute Bernard, Nick Kosak, Pak Song, Professor Tanaka, Cowboy Bob Ellis, Fritz Von Erich, others I can't remember. We ate it all up.

Wrestling was at its best when you knew it was fake but the WWF wouldn’t admit it and no one really cared. It was fun to watch.
