A lot of those gun socks are treated/impregnated with a silicone protectant that is supposed to prevent corrosion. I wonder if that seeped into/onto the rubber buttpad.

I have seen lots of those buttpads rot so that isn’t surprising. Otherwise it looks like new. From the days when Remington made decent stuff too.

looks great, a little loving with emory cloth or fine sand paper should take the fuzz off the pad, if you really want to brighten it up that is.
