We expect a moderate slowdown in the beginning of next year, as two small policy shocks—another debt downgrade and fiscal tightening—hit the economy. The “not-so-super” Deficit Commission is very unlikely to come up with a credible deficit-reduction plan. The committee is more divided than the overall Congress.

Wait until we have to do another bank bailout because they refused to dump European debt when they had the chance.
|

Well obama promised change, not that the change would be for the better.

For as fucked up as this will probably sound, I hope the economy does NOT get better for awhile.
I don't want to see the democrats getting credit for anything before the election. |

This is what happens when you elect a President based on a slogan and fuzzy, ill-defined statements. |

so, as soon as we have a black president, we have bad credit?

When are they going to stop dropping turds in the toilet bowl and just flush the damn thing already.
Just flush the dang thing and get this whole mess over with. The sooner we bring on hell the sooner we can work our way out of it. |

They're all on the take. There is no solution to this shit, and no one wants to take the blame for the inescapable eventuality. They should all burn, every last one of them. Europe is a fraud and is fucked, China is a fraud and is fucked. We're a fraud and we're fucked. Everybody's fucked. I know the pain that is coming, and you know what, I'm glad the markets still believe all the bullshit that is funneled out of the rumor mill daily, because I'm not quite where I want to be when everything goes boom; and boom it will go. |

For the first time in history, US debt is downgraded. It happened in the 3rd year of Hope and Change. It is his legacy to all Americans.

They will blame it on the republicans. Just like they blamed the republicans for killing the jobs bill in the senate recently, not enough R's to stop anything, not like that matters. |

You don't have to worry about recovery before the election. If a conservative Republican can get back in the White House, I really do think the economy will finally start to pick up on its own. Right now, the socialists have scared private capital half to death, so nothing is moving. But if they are out and that fear is gone, trust me, a shit ton of money is going to start moving again. |

Yeah, they'll say it was R's fault for not passing the "Job's Bill". Doesn't matter. The incumbent is the one who is expected to be doing something. And historically, the incumbent always takes the blame for a bad economy. Trust me, the statute of limitations on blaming Bush for everything is expiring. |

Too lazy to read. Is S&P going to downgrade farther, or are other agencies going to take us down to where S&P put us?

This is not surprising. The credit rating agencies engage in fraud. The US, the largest debtor nation in the world has AA+ ratings whereas China, the biggest creditor nation in the world has AA-. Doesn't make sense, does it? The U.S. credit rating should have been dropped a long time ago.

It just said "credit rating agencies" I know S&P said shortly after they dropped the rating they would likely drop it again in 18 months if the SPENDING didn't stop. I don't see why they would drop it again so soon. I think this article is trying to blow smoke up our asses to advance someone's agenda. Edit: It is some moron from Bank of America making this prediction. |

Fuck it, it's gotta happen eventually, lets knock the rotten piece of shit down, roll up our sleeves and rebuild... Sounds perfect and clearly the only viable solution..only one problem with the plan: everyone has their own take on shit and even on a "conservative" forum we have about 15 ways to look at the same thing. You see here in America we're not all guided by one ignorant faith to all point us in the "right" direction, we all do our best to make the right decisions or at least what we perceive to be..and so frankly good or bad, we'd be about as tribal as the middle east ever was. |

Both parties are to blame, which makes sense because they are both two sides of the same coin.
Obama's economic policy has differed little from that of Bush. Both signed massive spending increases into law. Both have cut taxes. Both supported and implemented inflationary policies (Ben Bernanke) Both supported TARP and the bankster bailouts. Before you blame everything on the "librul congress", remember that Republicans controlled Congress from 2000 to 2006. And remember that it was Dick Cheney, hero to many here, that told us "deficits don't matter". |
