Now that they have it, Apple users will once again profess how superior they are for having a feature Android phones have had for years. It really is a bizarre behavior. View Quote The Steve Jobs reality distortion field is still in effect. I'll have to watch the presser when it's unveiled. It will somehow be revolutionary that they are moving to a connector they should have used 7 years ago. Also the copium around the flip flopping on the magsafe connector for laptops is laughable. Not to mention that stupid touch bar they finally ditched. I will give them props for ditching intel and finally going back to RISC chips. |

I've got a 12 mini, which IMO is just about the perfect smartphone form factor - small enough to actually use as a phone without needing to contort your hand in weird ways to hold it and feel like you're holding a flooring plank to the side of your head, yet big enough to be useable and browse things on if you want to use it for that. It was actually sized for a phone, not a phablet.
I was displeased when they discontinued that size after the 13...wasn't really considering upgrading so much until word of the 15 with USB-C came out. Quoted: There's a man who makes his phone decision based on the wired charging connector. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: USB-C was introduced in 2014 and readily available since 2016, but apple has continued with their joke connector for another 7 years. Apple copium is real, you will all be heralding USB-C once apple adopts if fully. There's a man who makes his phone decision based on the wired charging connector. I use wireless at home, but I'm not always at home At work I bring a cable with my laptop when I go into the office, and my go bag (clothes, toiletries, etc) has 2 extra cables and an Apple wall plug in - the wall wart is USB-C; one cable is USB-C which plugs into that, and the other one is USB-A. Why 2 cables? Because the last time I needed my bag was because I was being carted away in an ambulance because of acute and sudden pancreatitis I called 911 while grabbing my bag, throwing on some shoes and heading to the door. Rushing was pointless as the ambulance took 10 excruciating minutes to get there and they couldn't give me any pain meds anyway. Anyway - the hospital beds only have USB-A jacks in them Since they don't really make an iPhone that can last more than 24 hours or so, you're stuck with needing to bring a cable and wall wart if you want to be in communication with people. Or watch porn from your hospital bed. Whichever; not judging. |

I switched from Android to the iphone 12 so I could use an Apple watch as I preferred it for tracking my fitness journey. Long story short I'm 7lbs from a 100lb drop in weight.
I didn't like the battery life of the 12 so I upgraded to the 13. The 13 was great but I wanted a zoom lens so last year I upgraded to a 14 pro. Here's the thing, I do want to ditch the lightning but it doesn't really matter. First off 99% of my charging is done via magsafe. My battery lasts for more than a day so I just stick it on the magsafe overnight. Heck I even have a magsafe powerbank for when I'm traveling. Second, all of the equipment from my company is also Apple so I have a MacBook pro, 2 magic mice, a magic keyboard, an ipad, airpod pros. My Macbook is USB-c but my ipad, mice, airpods (if I'm not using magsafe) and keyboard are ALL lightning so it's not going away. As far as the Android and Apple haters, there are things the Android does better there are things the Apple does better but nowadays they are so freaking similar it's a toss up. Since my company is 100% Apple it's really nice having an iphone and I LOVE the apple watch. It's my favorite apple product. |

Given that Apple doesn’t provide chargers these days, this is probably a way to make money by selling “approved” chargers to people. If you don’t buy the specific Apple charger, your camera a won’t work and the battery will die in 70% of its normal run time.

I've also noticed on the leaked photos of the USB C port, there are two screw holes next to it... so maybe the newer iPhones will be much easier to get into. If I were in that situation, I'd update everything and then do a full factory reset, update it and then restore my apps and shit. It would probably work alright for another couple years. I'm back in the walled garden, and I'm loving how all my Apple shit integrates. I had used a couple MacBooks before, I had a 5th gen iPad Mini, now I have a 6th gen that I got in 2021. I'm back to using a MacBook, have an Apple Watch Ultra, and everything works together. My fiancé and her son have iPhones and they're in my "family" group. I added my mom, since my sisters and I just got her an iPhone and an Apple Watch. She had some heart issues, and hopefully the watch can help her monitor things. We'll get her an AppleTV soon, so she can watch some good stuff and not have to deal with her flaky smart tv. Android tries to do some integration, and it works, but it's not as seamless as Apple's. The only thing I can say I think is missing from Apple's system is a web interface for iMessage. |
