This is why America sends her sons and her dollars to referee the global petroleum market.
It's a shitty, expensive, thankless job, but if we stop doing it, our allies lose access to cheap energy. When that happens, they start competing with us in the marketplace, pulling supply tight. We're more or less energy-independent nowadays, but Europe and her satellites are as dependent as ever on Muslim petroleum. We can either guarantee their access, or we can ride the waves of supply shocks. This article concerns Australia. Minor news. Imagine if it concerned all of Western Europe. |
