Hahaha.  A lot of y'all motherfuckers need Jesus.

Sweet Baby Rays doesn't belong anywhere near pulled pork.  Really no sauce like that does, but SBR's doesn't deserve the pork you spent hours smoking.

It is often on sale at Food Lion for 5 for $5.  I buy a shit load of the Hot and Spicy and the Chipolte flavors.  I mix them with a little Apple Cider Vinegar and use them to sauce grilled chicken.  That's all it's good for unless you are some godless heathen.

Eastern NC vinegar based sauces belong on pork butt.

Do whatever makes you happy though.  You're just wrong if you do it different than me.

Depending on what part of VA you are in either Hardison's or Nixon's is pretty good. You can find either down here in SEVA.

Wait you said sauce, not actual BBQ.

But wait... you are in VA. We do not put tomato based sauces on BBQ here.

My go to is Stubb's, mixed with a pepper jam my buddy makes and some honey or butter depending on what I'm cooking. Had like 4 bottles of different pepper jams and don't know what to do with them cause I wasn't a fan of them on toast tried it this way and holy shit it's good

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick. I bet all you guys saying to put these tomato based sweet/spicy sticky sauces on Eastern NC pulled pork also eat your french fries with mayo.

The ONLY commercially available sauce that belongs on eastern NC pulled pork is Scott's.

Scott's BBQ

Almost any food lion I have been in carries it.

Nothing wrong with Kraft. I will use it as a base for my own brew if need be. Straight up, it is too thick when cold for my taste.

Do continue... recipe inbound?...

IMO, pork shoulder is rich and needs a spicy rub, preferably leaning towards acid and ginger. I'll finish it after smoking in the oven foil tented in a 1/4 in of tamarindo soda for a couple hours. You'll get some nice smoky drippings in the pan... reduce it, add some cider and balsamic vinegar, ginger and honey(keep it tangy) and toss it back into the shredded pull. No sauce needed and it's damn good.

I helped cook 3k pounds of BBQ every year for over 40 years.  We always made our own sauce, the recipe makes 30gals.  This tastes as close to anything store  bought as our homemade fire department sauce.  It is excellent…!!

I enjoy the Kraft Carolina Vinegar sauce.

It’s not authentic eastern sauce, like god intended, but it is tasty.

Also a local, that is widely available:

Sweet baby ray has hfcs. F that

HEB brand here in TX does not and is about $1.50/14oz bottle.  It comes in 5 varieties and I celebrate the entire collection.

In order of my favorite but particular day's mood and meat can change it:
TX (spicy), Carolina (mustard), KC, Kentucky (bourbon), Memphis (vinegar)

There is some truth in this statement.  I keep the drippings  and use that as a base for a sauce at times.
Sauce is good for a carnival style fine chopped bbq sammich batch of pulled pig.

https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/neelys-bbq-sauce-recipe-1937392 with a 1 1/2 teaspoons of pepper flakes out of our garden. Our homemade flakes are significantly more spicy than store bought flakes. If I was using store bought, I'd use a tablespoon of them.

It's based off of Neely's (of Memphis's Interstate BBQ) recipe. To me, it's a good balance of red vinegar sauce I grew up eating (my wife is from Memphis, and I'm from the ketchup side of Carolina BBQ line), with sweet thrown in to balance out the spiciness.
