Love biscuits and gravy. This is definitely on my list of stuff I need to try cooking.

I want to try homemade biscuits instead of canned next time I make it

It is SOOO good! My wife makes it for Christmas morning, preps it the night before so all we have to do is preheat the oven.

|
As long as those are the frozen biscuits and not those disgusting abominations in a can.

I made the quick & simple breakfast.
Made enough dough for 4 Homemade 3" biscuits, threw in oven for 15min at 375deg. Then put a leftover grilled hamburger patty from last nights meal chopped up into castiron skillet with tablespoon of corn oil, heated up, Then added tablespoon of flour to make the ruox, salt & pepper, 3/4 cup milk, stirred around, then turned heat down to simmer. Had the stovetop's center griddle on, scramble two eggs & poured on to make a simple sharp cheddar cheese omelette topped with sliced roma tomato. Gravy had thickened enough I added 1/4 cup water to thin a bit, Then halved two biscuits, put three halves on plate topped with the burger sos gravy next to omelette & strawberry jam on fourth biscuit half. Pretty good breakfast, lunch & dinner meal for today at one sitting. My woman, only wanted 1 biscuit with butter. |

I love everything in this recipe. On its own. I have literally made meals my whole 40+ years of biscuits and gravy, with eggs and cheese, and sausage/bacon/fried chicken.
I have a terrible mental block about having it all together in a casserole form though. That being said, the pics posted look delicious. Maybe I’ll be brave enough to try it soon. |

I do most of my cooking with cast iron so that's my go to. I saw the post the other day and looked in the kitchen and had all the ingredients so decided I needed to try it. Thanks for sharing the recipe |

As a "Northern" boy, I can unequivocally say the best breakfast foods known to man originate from the southeastern U.S.. OP's example is prima fascie evidence.

With hash browns or tater tots instead of biscuits, yeah. Biscuits belong in a dumpster.

I showed the recipe to my wife and we were both excited to try it. We couldn’t resist putting our own spin on it but it worked out. We chopped up a large bell pepper, medium onion and sautéed. Added sausage to sauté and browned. Then added a can of chili’s when done. Rest of recipe was adhered to. It came out awesome! Served with extra gravy on top. Attached File
Thank you OP. This will be a great edition for an easy breakfast for a group. Using hash browns would probably qualify it for a pot luck lunch or dinner. Attached File EDIT: I forgot about a deviation from the original recipe. Took a can of Winco biscuits and just smushed them down in the greased dish until I had a uniform layer of dough at the bottom. I made real gravy because white gravy from a package just sucks. |

The local convenience store serves up their lumberjack bowl:
- 2 biscuits - 2 fried eggs - 3 strips bacon - 2 sausage patties - 1 hash brown patty Smothered in sausage gravy Covered in cheddar cheese It’s worth the caloric intake. |
|
I just made sausage gravy yesterday. I need to find a good homemade biscuit recipe. I used frozen ones and they turned out kind of gummy.
|
|
Drain the sausage grease?!? That's what you mix with flour before adding milk to make the gravy...
|
|
I'd make drop biscuits first, start the hot sausage, make the gravy in the sausage, scramble some eggs.
When the biscuits are done, cover in the sausage gravy, top off with the eggs, cover in cheese, then throw it back in the oven for a bit. |

LOVE me some brinner (or actual breakfast). Thx OP, easy enough even for kitchen dumbasses like myself. |
