Quoted: What do you think of my "Danny Archer" inspired CAR-15? Obviously not an exact clone. I know I'm almost 20 yrs late to the party, but I got a bug up my ass to do one after watching "Blood Diamond" last month. Been a while since I've seen it. I'd say 90% of the build is PSA parts. Since it wasn't a true clone, I decided to do more of an M81 woodland job on it. I just need to put the tape switch back on. Let's see your clones, or movie inspired builds. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/271079/1000014079_jpg-3168635.JPG Hi all, had to make an account and finally stop lurking to say that those are my dream builds. Great job. How did y'all mount the light under the fsb? As far as I know the surefire M16 mounts fit just fine, and the M14 need some metal shaved off to fit, but both are hard to find. There's a bunch of clones on Amazon and ebay, and mantis makes one as well. Do any of those fit without modification? What did you go with? Thanks in advance. |

View Quote The aluminum replicas are thicker and require rather significant modification to fit under the FSB gas tube. You can do it with a file/dremel. I did it by eyeballing it in a mill. |

I've got a few from PSA. They offer 2 pos and 5 pos, aluminum and plastic. All of mine are 5 pos and plastic. Don't care enough about retro accuracy to pay more money for a heavier stock. |

I’m building a Blood Diamond inspired rifle. Ordered a 607 flash moderator from Retro Rifles back in March. When I emailed them in May about the order status they said they are waiting on their supplier to finish them. I’ve thought of canceling that order and get the TIA moderator from PSA. And it’s a lot cheaper as well.
It’s the one piece holding me up. |

So that probably blows the clone fidelity, but I can live with that. |
