Quoted: It's still there, it's just not cheap anymore. At all. I'll add; the "single loop of leather" Yaqui holsters https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/396704/980F96AC-5B4B-4574-B623-543703F86109_jpe-2863391.JPG I freely admit to buying and attempting to use one of these with my Taurus PT-92 Beretta knockoff, because that's what Jean Reno used in "Ronin". In my own defense, I have now moved on to the Galco Summer Comforts that Benicio del Toro and Ryan Phillipe used in "Way of the Gun". So I've matured. Quoted: Square trigger guards on ANY pistol are stupid. They came into existence when the latest fad in pistol craft was to grasp the from of the trigger guard with the index finger of the weak hand. Several pistols created in the 1980's sported fully or semi squared off guards straight from the factory: the Glocks, the P7, the SIG P22x series before about 1995, and the Walther P99 all come to mind. Thank GOD that stupid concept died off among those who REALLY want to shoot a pistol. Now if Glock (and a couple of other current production pistols) would just realize that there is NO good reason for a trigger guard to be squared off. View Quote Like it or not, holster compatibility is one good reason to keep them. |

Quoted:Probably because you keep your booger hook away from the bang lever until you're ready to shoot. That has been taught since the beginning of time and then you advocate for poking you nose cleaner thru the trigger housing. View Quote Attached File Attached File |

Quoted: But I'll bet he looked cool as fuck up until that point. And I'll bet he scratched the shit outta his gun. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: The last DQ I saw at a 3-gun was when someone knelt to fire a rifle and his heel pushed his pistol out of a holster like that. It wasn’t any big deal, more like, “oops, sorry, you’re done for the day.” It was a cheap lesson for all of us, honestly. I never liked the Yaqui slide holsters because the front sight and muzzle were relatively prone to damage, but I had just never thought much about a foreign object kicking the gun out of the holster like that. It showed me the slide styles weren’t effective when you have to move around in a dynamic environment. They’re more suited for scrutinizing a crime scene behind your aviator glasses with a toothpick in your mouth, before heading to the T-Bone Cafe for lunch. |

Quoted: Eric has had notoriety in IPSC for some time now. Yet, we don't see all the "tier one" operators (or anyone who shoots seriously on the two-way range) advocating for a grip that uses the front of the trigger guard. Eric's style might work (for him at least) in gun games, but it's not something with a following among other pistoleros. Now if Glock (and a couple of other current production pistols) would just realize that there is NO good reason for a trigger guard to be squared off. WRONG. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5c9508MFho Eric has had notoriety in IPSC for some time now. Yet, we don't see all the "tier one" operators (or anyone who shoots seriously on the two-way range) advocating for a grip that uses the front of the trigger guard. Eric's style might work (for him at least) in gun games, but it's not something with a following among other pistoleros. Answer: Because those competition shooters know more about shooting and generally have higher round counts. Tactics and shooting are two separate skillets with a bit of overlap, and most "operators" don't get enough trigger time because they have many other skill sets that are also important. |
