Quoted: Why do "tier 1" "operators" come to competition shooters to learn to shoot? Answer: Because those competition shooters know more about shooting and generally have higher round counts. Tactics and shooting are two separate skillets with a bit of overlap, and most "operators" don't get enough trigger time because they have many other skill sets that are also important. View Quote I am sorry, but the fact is that Eric (and his admirable reputation) has been around a while, and so have squared trigger guards. Yet, there has been no tectonic shift among the majority of those who earn a paycheck shooting to adopt Eric's use of that forward hold in the 10+ years he has had his notoriety. I contend that Eric's style works for Eric, for whatever reason, but is not something that will work for most shooters who are serious about their firearm skills. |

Quoted: 550 cord pull loops on magazine base plates. View Quote Don’t forget that old fighting position, post raid, post ambush tactics- In the days when you were expected to have the same seven magazines for 87 years, Pre dump bag fad you had a snap link on your LCE you put your empty magazine on with that loop. |

As for the Glock 19 “fad”
If you were around 35 years or so ago and used to a 1911 A1, Beretta 92/M9, P226, etc. And picked up a G19 for the first time- That had the same capacity/firepower as the later two, and was so much smaller than each of them- It was impressive and revolutionary. |

Lot of stuff mentioned here has been super popular at one time and still around just not super popular item of the week/month/year anymore. |

Old timers will remember “National Match” everything.
Slightly less old timers will remember NM being replaced with “Tactical”. |

Fad or not, 10mm is the best automatic handgun caliber. Seems more popular than ever compared to, say, 20 years ago.
It was pointed out before, many times, this is hardly a list of fads. |

"Combat shotguns." About 10 years ago they were everywhere. I think govt restrictions took out the Russian ones but all the clones of those never seemed to catch on and were clearances priced in the end.
KSG was a big deal when announced, it was shit. Those Saiga converted shotguns were a pretty hot item for awhile. Then Russia imported alot of them, I think they were branded Molot. I had one and quickly sold it. Was pointless imo. The 8 round stick mags stuck out of the gun almost a foot. The drums were heavy as shit. Gun looked sweet but I would rather have a real AK in a rifle caliber. Really what's the point of a shotgun anymore in this role? Watching those Ukraine videos and some.of the police videos lately the AR drops people pretty fast. |

This list is ridiculous lol.
Anything an individual changed their mind on doesn’t mean it was a fad lol |

Quoted: Eh, maybe. It probably felt like a fad if you’re under a certain age given it was the premier American duty and CCW caliber for about a quarter century. I work for the largest police department in TN and we are still issued Sig Sauer P229r in .40 S&W. There doesn't seem to be any intention or reason to follow the crowd to 9mm. |

I'm 34 and wasn't allowed to have handguns of my own when living with my parents. I remember around the time when I first started buying handguns and training at 21 there was this weird fad that people would aggressively look left and right with such head and neck movements involved that I thought they would induce some type of injury.

I don’t like Glocks subjectively but if someone asked me to outfit an entire military with handguns I’d just say “G19’s for everyone”. It does everything you need a handgun to do well. |
