Local car club is doing a car show/ pre party type thing on opening day. I know a few locals have Ferarris and Ford GTs but I rarely see either at the local car shows. I'm thinking of offering my left nut on trade for a FGT, see if i get any takers. View Quote |

You really need to read “ Go Like Hell” and watch “The 24 Hour War” to get a good feel of what the movie will be covering.
Both are excellent entertainment and informative as well. |

What about 1964 and 1965? Ford spent 10x what Ferrari did and failed miserably. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The GT ate Ferraris lunch and shat on their living room floor. God bless Carol Shelby. Let’s also not forget the Shelby Daytona Coupe in 65 had a shot of winning the overall had the oil cooler line not malfunctioned and it was a class below the top tier cars. Ford/Shelby showed what America can do when it wants. The real hero of this story is the mad genius of Phil Remington...... Ford and Shelby would never have pulled this off without his work on the Cobras, Daytona’s, and GT40s. I hope he gets his due. |

My dad got to briefly meet Mr. Shelby at Leguna Seca when he was competing in Formula Ford.
He's a very huge fan I wanna take him to see that movie. The GT is his favorite car ever. |

When you initially stick your toe in the World’s biggest race against a man who was racing and building race cars prior to WW2 and beat them in your third year... that’s pretty damn amazing. The GT40s would have been victorious in 65 had Ford not insisted on swapping out all the engines prior to the race as the new head bolts failed. Let’s also not forget the Shelby Daytona Coupe in 65 had a shot of winning the overall had the oil cooler line not malfunctioned and it was a class below the top tier cars. Sounds like it will be picketed by the SJW crowd for lack of a gay single parent trans-woman advocating for a climate change friendly carbon neutral sustainable living technology solution while trying to break through the racial, sexual, and class barriers of the affluent white euro-centric toxic male hegemony of professional auto racing, all while raising an adorable adopted Autistic child of opium addicted parents with gender confusion issues. Sounds about right for our media Lords & Masters... Or it could be about a couple of American hands-on guys who said, "Fnck It! Let's take on the Best and Beat them..." View Quote 10/10 |

Looks like a different theatre is giving free admission to the first 80 hot rods Friday evening so they can have an impromptu car show before the movie. Will probably go.

It was fantastic. I'm not much of a car guy, but my oldest son seems like he'll be a gearhead when he grows up. So I took the family to see it at the local bar/theater. Really, really good movie. Well made, family friendly (not as much swearing as the Goonies) and a GREAT America can do movie. Go see it!

Ford v Ferrari cool scene... |
|
I mentioned earlier about the Land Speed Records and the hype that was going on at the time.
The first was in 1964 1964 Craig Breedlove Sets Land Speed Record at Bonneville Craig Breedlove and Goodyear break the land speed record |
|
Oh, yeah.
THIS movie was playing in the movie theaters at the time of the movie. IF the racing scenes in Ford v Ferrari were as good as THIS movie you'd have a solid gold winner instead of a gold plated movie. Grand Prix - Trailer |

I’m gonna be on this like a duck on a junebug. I’ve been a Shelby fan since I read this https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/172294/06F9F326-F545-4C69-A9CE-0FE97F46BF29-1154547.jpg as a girl in the mid-seventies; the GT40 has been my grail car every since. Shelby is generally remembered as a constructor and entrepreneur. But he was first a successful driver, winning at Le Mans in the late fifties for Aston Martin with a Brit whose name I can’t recall, before coming back in ‘66 to beat Enzo Ferrari’s arrogant, Eye-talian ass into the dirt with an American hot rod and a Ford engine. You know that had to make the latter want to eat his own liver. I’ve read recently that Shelby might not have been the world’s nicest guy - he went through wives like oats through a goose - but I don't care. He got shit done, and America could vastly benefit from ten or fifteen million more men like him. Instead of piddling around with various inconsequential, money making projects in his later years, he should have been put out to stud. View Quote |

Just got back from it
Thought it was very well done. Loved it |
|
Saw it, best movie I have seen Hollywood make in a VERY long time.
ETA: I am a car nut Kids are not, but they thoroughly enjoyed it. |
|
My wife and I saw it Friday night, we both enjoyed it.
Both of us like cars, neither is a "car nut" . |
|
Saw it. Was a good time.
Makes me want to get back out on track. |
|
Watched it today and enjoyed it very much. I wish it would have covered more of the whole team as I would love to know more about McLaren and Gurney and how the whole thing came together. That being said the back and forth between the characters they chose was fantastic. Christian Bale reminds me a lot of Gary Oldman in that he disappears into his roles. He did a fantastic job.
Sounds like I need to read up a bit with books already written. |
|
Good movie. Really long though. I think they could have developed the characters better. Movie was 2.5 hour long and I didn't realize Carroll Shelby was married.
It inspired me to come home and tear into the Mustangs differential... Made a mess but got it fixed |

The movie reminded me of the amazing time I had in Colarado- the Shelby museum in Boulder is incredible. This brown car should look familiar for those who saw the movie. Not sure if the blue and white one in my photo is THE car or not.

A testosterone-filled movie about life and death at the pinnacle of motorcar racing?
Nah. I've got "Steel Magnolias" reserved for that night after a hot bubble bath and a glass of white wine. |
|
Just watched it, and as a hard-core car guy thought it was very well done and quite entertaining as well.
