From a post on -X- just now:
Tom Gresham @Guntalk · 1m I keep getting intel on this from industry insiders. Bottom line. In months or a year you will wish you had stocked up on ammo at today's prices. I'm buying now. View Quote |

Because they sitting on a fuck ton of it
Even academy has shelves stocked full It doesnt even feel like we are rolling into an election season with all the ammos out there right now |

Wow a real Nostradamus.
I would never expect it to cost more later. |

I'm picturing GDers diving into an ammo pile and swimming like Scrooge McDuck, but never spending a shot.

FPNI. Local shops and online retailers don't seem to have any shortages, prices aren't great, but not terrible.

I don't know who Tom Gresham is or why he would know, but tipped match kings are finally readily available and I'm just looking for an excuse to buy a case, so thanks op

Not sure if he is right or wrong but if you look at the cost or reloading components (especially the recent rise in powder prices), I'm thinking he might be right.

View Quote From my experiences after having a company in the firearms industry and doing very specific training focused on SUT/fighting as a fireteam/squad instead of the 'carbine 1' courses you see, you are totally correct. No one goes shooting here if the temp is below 60 and above 75, which is basically 75% of the year. 10mph wind? Oh, too windy. Overcast? Oh, it might rain. Literally everyone has guns they have never shot, or if they have, they have less rounds on them than I shot yesterday. Everyone wants to talk about guns and bullshit gear. No one wants to actually use them or put any amount of time into actually finding out what it takes to use them let alone under stress. But they're 'ready incase something happens' based on the fact that they have a gun. I've long ago stopped trying to talk people into actually finding out how much they have to learn as its a lost cause. They'll just watch some YouTube or something. But they will panic and try to buy literally fucking everything when some idiot on the internet tells them to. |

BRB, panic buying .40 S&W, .22 WMR, 5.7, .45 ACP, .30 SC, and 350 Legend.

Reloading components are on shelves as well, because who the fuck is going to pay 80-100 bucks for a brick of primers and 50 bucks for a pound of powder. People are broke. |

This chicken little sky is falling BS in this industry is sooooo tiring…

Quite a bit of nitrocellulose is made in china, and russia has doubled its import of it for ammo production.
Can't help but think ammo costs will soar and become a little harder to get later this year or next because of it. |

I literally have no place to store the huge supply i have now. I expend 5K to 10K per year (I have 2K loaded up for a machinegun shoot next week). I would buy more but it would cost me more in storage fees,

Pretty sure money is going to be flying out of my bank account tonight. Just a question if it's on another K31 or ammo

Ammo is plentiful right now, good prices.
I'm not immediately concerned about it. Maybe as we get closer to Fall, but so far it's been smooth sailing for a change of pace. |

...I will need to add onto my house or shop if I increase my current stocking level on ammo or toilet paper.

I mean, on one hand, he’s not wrong, he’s also probably not right.
I’m always buying ammo, mainly because I shoot a lot (once a week, typically) and the GF goes once every month or two and she doesn’t seem to think she has to buy ammo. I remember having an ammo company rep in a class and he told us flat out the company’s claim about having to increase prices because of the war in Iraq were complete bullshit. Anyway, I have a friend who was the janitor at the place that makes the mugs for the CIA gift shop, and a lady who works there has a cousin who makes balloons for a sex toy company and it said that Biden is going to use his Executive Authority to ban ammo sales in Sept and claim it is because of the election. |
|
Ammo seems abundant right now, but as we all know, that can change literally overnight.
I don't hoard, but try to replace what I shoot, and there were times where it was very difficult to replace. {panic seasons} I'm sure ammo prices are gonna rise, just like everything else. |

Deals were everywhere. |

Lots of people have stocked up plenty of food, ammo and guns over the last few years.
At some point it just becomes silly, plus the CCs are maxed out. |
