what do I need cash in a power outage for? View Quote Currently have $199 in my wallet. I'm not going to count what's in the change jar (gallon jar, less than half full). Last summer, I was walking around with something in the neighborhood of $3500 in my wallet, but I was looking at XJs and YJs (very rusty YJs). About 9 years ago, I kept $3,000 to $4,000 in a kitchen drawer, but I had already been told that my employer was just waiting to see how long it would be before the bank padlocked the shop, and my bank had been acting a bit flaky (they were bought by another bank, a short time later). |

2k in my work truck. After reading about Arrow Truckng going under and reading about how they stranded their drivers, I decided I wanted to have enough cash real money on hand to fuel my truck to get wherever I need or walk into an airport and buy a plane ticket home with cash. Plus, you never know wtf is going to happen out here on the road. View Quote |

$700.
My bank is two blocks away. They would probably give me only about $15K of my money. Power outage? You aren't robbing the bank if it is your money. |

One Abe Lincoln, I'm so poor, have to sneak up on a glass of water to get a drink.

I *did* have almost 10K cash in my "strike fund" in the safe, but I just decided to take a leap of faith that a strike was not imminent and send most of that to pay off a CC.
I do still have a stash of MRE's.... |

$ 770.00 ??
It’s in my wallet right now $ 2000.00 in the safe at the house... |

I will not say for OPSEC reasons but within a few hours I can have more than anyone would believe on this board. I'm not a rich guy but my siblings have a thing about having a lot of cash on hand. No one would sit in jail very long if they needed cash bail, not that any of them would ever get themselves in a situation like that.

"Several" hundred stashed for emergency. Always carry $60-$100 for shopping.
I don't like to casually carry around anything that would really hurt to lose. Never been mugged or lost my whole wallet, but it seems like walking around with thousands of dollars is asking for trouble. |

Total or, my own money.
I am out and about. I have about $350 of personal funds with me. I am riding with about a million point two of other people's money. |

I alwasy keep 5K in cash on hand, and I just withdrew another ~2,400 equivalent from the bank today to pay rent. So, more than usual. I hoard cash like some of you hoard ammo. There has been more than one occasion in my life where it got me out of a bind, and quickly. The last one caused my rule of thumb to up from 1K per member of the household to 2.5K per. View Quote |

$15,000 and some change. Not sure why it matters, the IRS man gets his share, I guess people could figure out where I live but is it really worth the risk that I’m embellishing for the Internet? Most likely a guy on Arfcom isn’t the smartest target for a home invasion. View Quote |

I personally stock up on valuable metals for this reason.
Specifically, brass jacketed lead. |

I sold some guns at the gun show last month so I'm flush for now with about $4300.
