1. Rent a single-man electric lift.

2. Scaffolding

3. Get a ladder and replace the fan head/blade assembly and you won’t have to go all the way up to the ceiling. Sorta gets dicey there as not all fans mount to the pipe the same, and if it has a remote, the remote unit is likely between the canopy and Sheetrock, and may not be compatible with the new fan

4. Call an electrician who is going to do either 1, 2, or 3 and charge you for the labor of getting the equipment there/set up/taken down and the rental marked up

Numbers 1 and 2 are viable if you're confident of your ability to run/assemble that equipment. I'd be going the #4 route before I went up there on a ladder. A twenty foot fall is a life changing event, and not for the better.

Get a ladder that is to short place it on a table. Then stand on the top of ladder you know that place that clearly states do not stand here. That will just about get you there but it won’t. So go back down and stick random things under both the table and ladder to make up the difference. Don’t forget to film because  you will need them views to help cover expenses from the hospital.

Yup. This.

Call "The Guy"

Better than buying a $200-300 ladder you will likely never use again. And if you do, you still have to do the work while trying to mount the damn thing while connecting the wiring. lol Why?

Or, renting scaffolding you have to put together, safely, and then disassemble. And cart back and forth. Why?

"The Guy" has the tools to make this a 30 minute job vs your what?

If it requires a bunch of jiggling around, I'm hiring someone.

I'll spend all day or night hanging out the side of a flying airplane or falling out the side of a flying airplane, but fuck sitting on a tall ladder bouncing junk around.

Scaffolding.

Do it yourself, or pay a licensed/insured electrical contractor ~1-1.5k to do it for you.

I work on floors. I am not meant to be in the air.

I had to buy an expensive ass ladder when I got this house to be able to change light bulbs nshit.

There is a 100% chance I would fall off and break my neck if I also had a fan up there.

I didn’t think about it but I think I will have to go this route to have any stability to not fucking die.

Mine isn't that high. Did it by myself on a step ladder. About 10 ft up to the fan, 13 ft to the ceiling.

How high is it to the fan? If the biggest Little Giant (or clone) ladder won't reach it in step-ladder mode, scaffolding is the next best answer.

I like the step ladder on top of a table idea already posted, though. Do that one please.

20 ft step ladder, that thing must have a hell of a wide base and take 2.5 men (2 men and a boy) just to carry it.  I have a 16 foot step ladder and move it around with my skid steer
