has to be single stack hast to have a rail would like for it to have a threaded barrel but not a must I really like the FDE COLT RAIL GUN but the only one I can find on GB is 3700. That's seems like a lot for that gun. But it's in my price range. thanks for any suggestions and links |

I had my favorite gun store owner had me a Wilson Combat CQB Elite that had 4k price tag. I was shaking looking it over. It is the finest handgun I had ever held. I bought it. About a year later I bought another one. Bought have different makeups but both shoot unbelievable great. If I had the money, there would be a third,

Dan Wesson Specialist, add a threaded barrel and spend the rest on mags/ammo.
Wilson, Dan Brown, or Les Baer. Nighthawk is not worth what they are charging.
For that many guns you should talk to one of the big distributors - but I doubt any of them have 4000 of any single model of 1911 in stock.
Springfield pro or colt.
It's the only combat proven modern 1911. |
Dan Wesson Discretion.
I'll take $500 as a thank you for saving you $3000 |
Something that says R. HEINIE on the right side of the frame.
I have a Colt that baer customized back in the day
I’ve handled some Wilsons Both are nice, but I’d rather have two $2000 .45s |
Just pony up twice your budget and get a Cabot
Seriously though, if I'm picking up a $4k 1911, it's probably going to end up being a WC. |
At that price point I wouldn't even think about Les Baer or Dan Wesson. Alchemy or Nighthawk, maybe Wilson Combat. Guncrafter would be in the running if they make something you like.

Alchemy
If you are not familiar, get familiar. Failed To Load Title Failed To Load Title For you Springer Pro fans. Rob ran it. He is the best thing going for a legit custom build, which is what I consider anything over $2k. Dan Wesson if you want production. |

Ed Brown
Wilson Combat Nighthawk Volkmann if you can find one cheap Greg Derr tuned 1911 alchemy Guncrafter |
Plenty of 4k 1911 videos free on YouTube. Is your tv/monitor capable of 4k?
1911 or 2011? For that price I'd grab a nice SVI or something |
My experience with high-end 1911s is with Nighthawk and Wilson Combat.
You'd do well either way. |

Do the 4 grand models bump you up into standard capacity territory?

I would call the Colt Custom Shop and order one, to be honest.

View Quote That's an M45A1, not a "Railgun" - railguns are a different model/SKU...that one, yes, it's overpriced; they priced in all the gunsmith bullshit that someone fucked it up with (John Jardine notwithstanding, but that better be documented for that price)...but they also didn't include any of the original parts. As a beater, for $800, I'd probably buy it just because it's an M45A1 even though the sights, barrel, thumb safety aren't original or correct for the M45A1. For that price? Fuck no. Edit - if that had been one of the custom shop M45A1s with the special case and docs and all that, it would be a travesty, but the price would only be off by a grand, instead of being off by almost 3 grand |

If you want a Colt Rail Gun - there are two versions and make sure you're getting the one you want!
The first revision was from BEFORE the M45A1 project/adoption - the rail itself is smaller and not a true pic rail. It doesn't really add much bulk to the gun at all. Later guns (Colt Combat Unit, M45A1, and the 2nd gen Railgun) have a much larger/beefier rail that sits lower on the trigger guard, is a true pic rail...and not a whole lot of places make holsters for. I have a Combat Unit Railgun, with the beefier rail, and I love it - well worth the money IMO. The only things M45A1s bring to the table, really, are the chromed/plated corrosion resistant internals. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/960263591 - this one is a first gen railgun https://www.gunbroker.com/item/960234195 - This one is an M45A1/2nd gen railgun frame - if you look at where the rail meets the trigger guard, you can see the difference |

No affiliation with the seller, but this is a much better buy. This is an actual custom shop gun and is in mint condition. I’d go this route if I wanted a colt rail gun/m45. |
