Takes AK mags....I would NOT have been a buyer if it didn't.
I'm a buyer at under $1k. OK, lets take bets now. I predict it will be in the $1800 range |

I really hate that stock design, no matter what its attached to. Just looks too much like a boot. But I guess you don't have to worry about the front sight being canted. So they go to all the trouble of designing a new selector, but still demo it in condition 3? Whats the point? Is the selector not a real improvement over something like a Krebs safety? I want it but then I realized they screwed it up.
cheek riser should go straight up not move up at an angle. removable pistol grip I guess what i really want is an AR lower with an AK upper that takes ak mags. |

its plastic, it goes in the recycling bin Polymers are used in lot of applications nowadays.... from car engine intake manifolds to components in ballistic armor. The AK will hardly be breaking new ground as a firearm to employ polymers in its construction. Not so long ago that people derided the M16 as a toy that would fall apart as it was made of aluminum and plastic. |

So it's a design update that addresses many of the issues AK haters always bitch about...but still a trashcan gun? Sounds about right

Weird that they went with the 45 degree gas block. I know the 90 degree gas block is only needed for 5.45 or 5.56 but the 45 degree gas block looks weird to me on a "modern" AK.

Should have made it accept standard ar15 pistol grips. But other than that I guess itsinteresting

Besides the VZ-58, I wonder if this will be a "legal" AK in Maryland.

Looks like it would be easy to make a 5.56 version with a STANAG magwell

Soooooo it's a SIG 55x? View Quote Only on this site can a manufacturer by the name of Kalashnikov make a rifle that is not Kalashnikov enough for the peanut gallery. I hope the stock is interchangeable in the future... besides that it looks like it will be lighter, better ergos and MUCH better optic mounting solutions... if it is as dependable as the old AK this weapon is going to awesome. |

I have a sneaking suspicion that they took a run of the mill AK barreled receiver, removed the triggerguard, maybe milled the top of the front trunnion and wrapped it in plastic. Custom carrier for the charging handle and 'tantal'-ish selector.

I stopped looking at the 'tuba gun when I saw the 9mm on that page.

Interesting rifle. About the only thing I don't like about it is the mag release. Looks too flimsy. I'm sure the charging handle is still reciprocating and the bolt still will not be able to be manually locked, nor will the mag lock the bolt open. Wondering how hard it will be to throw the safety from safe to fire and back. For everything they've shown it's got to be a $1,000+ gun. I'm sure they will sell quite a few, but I just don't see the viability since AR's are below $1,000. Hell, below $700
