Looks like PSA/AAC is going to do it
edit: on PSA website now: |
|
I don’t know if I can trust psa made 7.62x39.
I’m sitting on about 16 cans of Barnaul 840rd spam cans. I’d rather buy commercial spec stuff from Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, etc. |
|
They said they were making steel cased AK ammo last year, OP. We have been waiting patiently.
I don't expect cheap ass Russian prices, but if it's cheaper than brass case, it'll be worth the wait. |
|
This makes me less inclined to divest the cartridge.
Was this ---| |--- close to getting out of it all together. |
|
They've been talking about it for years. I'm hoping it's pretty cheap!
|
|
I'll wait and see some reviews. My stockpile is good for now. I just hope President Trump gets elected and puts things back in proper order including cheap imported ammo.

|
Would rather see more investment in brass cased ammo production, but cool I guess. Steel cased ammo sucks for a number of reasons, an extra 0.10 a round is worth going to brass.

View Quote I would assume getting the production set up is the first step and most people want cheaper steel cased 7.62x39. Once they are running production they can probably offer brass cases as well. The number one issue with 7.62x39 is inconsistent bullet weight and powder quantity due to crap QC. I assume PSA will do much better here. |

They should make it a complete rip off of Wolf. Like Coyote and make the boxes look identical otherwise.

I reload both cartridges at the moment. Per Jamin, the initial steel case plans are 7.62x39, 7.62x54r, and 5.45x39 They have 2 flavors of 7.62x39 on the website, listed out of stock. Usually it appears on the website a few weeks before it is for sale. |

Then they can knock off their own line and call it Silver Fox, making it rip off of Silver Bear. lol I just loved those little boxes they came in. The low budget graphics were cool in their own right. |

Hell yes. |
|
They really need to do this if they do 5.56 steel case |
|
|
Looking forward to it but I am not sure how “cheap” it will be priced.
The cheap stuff was coming from countries where a Dollar was still a big deal, made in factories that were paid for long ago by a government that no longer exists. |

I wanna be excited but it will never be cheap, compared to what it was four or so years ago when my LGS had it for $185/k. I'd bet it will still be around .39-.45 cent a round. Especially if it's marked AAC. I hope I'm wrong.

And people at the range would make fun of me for reloading 7.62x39 years ago.

View Quote How much cheaper is steel cased ammo over brass cased when made in the USA? I would gladly buy another AK and pay 0.10 more a round for brass cased instead of shitty steel case for LARPers. The only reason people ran steel cased was because it was cheap and this is a golden opportunity to make brass cheaper. |

View Quote Yeah I think that was all of them. Funny story, when I was in high school i changed oil at a car dealership. I walk into the parts office for some oil filters and whatever and the counter guy holds up a bullet. Counter guy: do you know what this is? Me: yes. CG: no you don’t, what is it?! Me: a 223 round of silver bear. His jaw about hit the floor, lol. I miss brown bear 7.62*39. I used to bump fire it by the case out of a Sar-1 lmao. |

I have 11k of x39. Back when SG ammo kept warning us about Russian ammo sanctions I was buying a case a week before covid. The writing was on the wall then.
