I don't understand why not eating meat honors Jesus

I think the idea is voluntary privation. But having halibut and scallops or something instead of a pork chop does seem to defeat this idea. Many seafoods are more delicious than most meats, so it's not much of a sacrifice.

My brother in Christ, please pick up a biology book. Eggs are eggs, not a particular member of a species but half of the biological material required to make a particular member of a species. Otherwise, every menstrual cycle would be a miscarriage.

Quoted: So Catholics don't follow the books of Leviticus or Deuteronomy? What type of mental gymnastics do you have to do, to say eating meat on Friday if forbidden, but eating shellfish is OK?
Not picking on Catholics as United Methodist do it to: picking and choosing what parts of the Bible to ignore because they are inconvenient does NOT make you a Christian.
