Yeah, you boys interested in the science behind this sort of thing (and NOT about 87 W/m2) should read: "The Maunder Minimum and the Variable Sun-Earth Connection", it's interesting and a decent overview for the non-physics majors.
Then go look up how Willie Soon was destroyed by his "fellow scientists" for crossing the dogma. How does science advance again? |

He was SUCH a cool dude to talk to about the cold war as well, I took him on a tour of the old Titian One missle silo we were turning into an R&D lab, and he pointed out that when they were first being constructed, the Soviet Union would have literally murdered people to get them in as easily as we was able to on that tour. (Later Soviet agents were allowed to infiltrate to steal the designs because the T1 was outdated and they wanted the Soviets to know EXACTLY how strong the silos were, because it was pretty much a retaliatory weapon only. |
