As water gets tied up in snow and glaciers, the ocean levels will drop. Since in FL, I own to the Mean High Tide Line, my property will vastly increase. Maybe I can get a government grant to put in some section 8 housing for all the Damnyankees that will be coming this way! View Quote |

Yeah, you boys interested in the science behind this sort of thing (and NOT about 87 W/m2) should read: "The Maunder Minimum and the Variable Sun-Earth Connection", it's interesting and a decent overview for the non-physics majors.
Then go look up how Willie Soon was destroyed by his "fellow scientists" for crossing the dogma. How does science advance again? |

Here's her background: https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/about-us/our-staff/z/professor-valentina-zharkova/ "I am a Professor in Mathematics at Northumbria University. I have BSc/MSc in Applied Mathematics and Astronomy, a Ph.D. in Astrophysics, certificate in project management. I graduated from the National University of Kyiv, Ukraine in 1975 with a BSc/M.Sc. first class with distinction degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics (joint honours). In 1975-1978 worked as Junior researcher at Physics and Applied Maths Department, then moved to the Solar Division of the Main Astronomical Observatory, Kyiv, Ukraine for my Ph.D. studies in Applied Mathematics/Solar Theory. After successfully defending my thesis in non-LTE radiative transfer entitled "Hydrogen emission in quiescent solar prominences with filamentary structure", I worked at Space Science Laboratory, Physics Department, National University of Kyiv as junior researcher, lecturer/researcher senior lecturer/senior researcher (1978-1994). In 1992 I joined the Astronomy Group of Glasgow University as the Senior Royal Society visitor, then a Research Fellow (1993-1999). In 2000 I became a Lecturer at the University of Bradford, in 2002 I was appointed to a Reader and in 2005 to a Professor in Applied Mathematics. From September 2013 I joined the Northumbria University as a Professor in Mathematics" I'd wager she's familiar with the workings of the Sun. Maths folks are good with looking at data. I met a Physicist that got his degree from Moscow university. Once everyone who escaped during the fall of the USSR got to America, and enough time went by that the animosity towards the "Reds" died down a little, and the 90's tech boom started, holy shit all those cats wrote their own ticket. I've looked at his school alumni on his linked in page, they're all senior level positions at huge tech companies. |

Threads like this are why I hate discussing climate cycles on here. For every one person who's read up enough to know that our surface and air is heated from the sun in an open system via radiation that varies in intensity over time, there's 5 retards who scream and roll in shit about "dem gawtdamn global warmin' scientists don't know nothin'!!!2!"

I'm sorry if this was pointed out and I missed it: it's not going to last "350-400 years", it's part of a larger cycle that repeats "every 350-400 years for the past 5000 (and 100000) years".
She predicts, "the solar activity for the cycles 25-27 to be very low forming a grand minimum." (Solar cycle = ~11 years) http://thegrandsolarminimum.com/ https://www.nature.com/articles/srep15689 http://computing.unn.ac.uk/staff/slmv5/kinetics/reply2usoskin_jastp17.pdf http://computing.unn.ac.uk/staff/slmv5/kinetics/popova_etal_jastp17.pdf |

He was SUCH a cool dude to talk to about the cold war as well, I took him on a tour of the old Titian One missle silo we were turning into an R&D lab, and he pointed out that when they were first being constructed, the Soviet Union would have literally murdered people to get them in as easily as we was able to on that tour. (Later Soviet agents were allowed to infiltrate to steal the designs because the T1 was outdated and they wanted the Soviets to know EXACTLY how strong the silos were, because it was pretty much a retaliatory weapon only. |
