They are starting to use the term "over the horizon" a lot now. Seems like airstrike was sloppy with killing a bunch of innocent civilians.

"U.S. military forces conducted a self-defense unmanned over-the-horizon airstrike today on a vehicle in Kabul, eliminating an imminent ISIS-K threat to Hamad Karzai International Airport,"

Over the horizon has been a term in common use in the military, specifically in targeting and intelligence contexts, for years. It's now being used as some sort of universal answer in the political context, apparently.

Regarding the multiple civilian casualties reported, I do have a couple of thoughts.

First, I don't trust the administration any more than the Taliban, so don't misunderstand me here. However, the TB has been removing weapons and calling everyone a civilian since time immemorial. I personally witnessed an extended gunfight with multiple US KIA and multiple Apache strikes, which resulted in the TB claiming 20-some civilians killed by the apaches. Of course, those same 'civilians' had been carrying rifles and running ammo moments earlier, but what's a little misinformation among friends? I'm not saying the US didn't kill any good guys, but consider me a little skeptical.

Second, I blame the administration for this entire debacle, so don't misunderstand this point either. But saying 'Biden killed civilians in an airstrike' is kinda silly. The commander on the ground, whoever is the release authority, ordered the strike. Presidents don't make tactical targeting decisions on the battlefield. Did he put us in the position for this to happen? Absolutely. He didn't order that strike, though.

Third, there were some early reports that there were two explosions around the same time, and one was reported as a 'rocket.' That may have been someone who didn't know the difference describing a missile, but it also may have been a 107 rocket that killed those civilians.

All that to say, I'm going to reserve judgement on this one until we get a little more info.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea that barely 24 hours after the Kabul attack, without assets on the ground, we knew exactly who did it, where they were, could tail them and identify (with a drone flying at 18,000 feet) the car they were riding in.  And they have YET to tell us who it was.  I mean, really.......

Without getting into any details, that's the easy part. For those who question getting PID from a drone, it's done all the time.

Not saying that makes for a satisfactory answer to the rest of your questions, though.

Agreed. It's basically become a cure all for when people question how we will still prevent terrorist attacks from Afghanistan without any assets in country. And frankly, it's not a very good one.

I wish there was a reporter with balls. That would ask the president, "On hurricane Ida, do you think that your lack of planning, poor execution of basic job duties and atrocious mishandling of a crisis will be the same as it has been in Afghanistan? And how will you blame the previous administration for your epic failure?"

(Not directed at you, poster.)

Oh, we are well beyond the point of just entertaining the idea. When the globalists announce that governments will have to become "more authoritarian" in response to a future Coronavirus and then announce after such a virus appears that they will bring about the Great Reset. Then, we see this "Build Back Better" nonsense and the American government doing its damnedest to destroy the nation; something other developed nations are doing to themselves as well. Yeah, if we sit around just entertaining the idea that our domestic enemies are purposefully destroying our country, we will already be destroyed by the time we "entertain" a plan to react react.

People like this can't actually think for themselves and see a problem and solutions to them.

I don't get it either...It must be too complex or simply too fucking simple to understand for them.

I see it also in some of my "older" family members.

They completely have deferred on who they vote for to their parents who have been long gone 30 years ago.

They say....well "Dad was a Democrat...and so I'm gonna vote Democrat".

Problem is...this definitely IS NOT the same Democratic party from 35+ years ago.

The man I described is actually a brilliant man with advanced degrees in engineering from MIT. He built submarines for the Navy after he stopped driving them

I think the issue is that for men of his generation, Trump was disgraceful and far too undignified for the office of President. Biden presented a more established and polished choice.

His generation also think that the evening news is true, because during their day it may have been mostly so.

I'm just surprised he couldn't see past all of the bullshit and see through Biden.

I hear that "disgraceful and undignified" comment a lot about Trump. Graceful & dignified went out the door with Bill & Hillary.

What I tell my well-meaning friends and relatives who support, with votes, and money, and talk, Biden and his crew;  You do know that you make it much more likely that I will die in a dystopian, hellish, urban core, fighting to make sure this country survives.  You do know that, don't you?

It sorta colors the end of the conversation.  But truth is new to these people.
