Isn't there a restaurant at the end of that pier?
Been to San Diego several times and the pier we went to had a restaurant at the end. |
What dumbass did that I wonder. I thought this pier was closed right now anyway because of damage from the storms.
They're going to need some bigger pumps. They're not even reaching the building.
The building is toast. Unable to get a significant amount of water on it. Looks like they are trying to save the pier at least.
My son (who lives there) tells me it started in the vacant old Ruby’s Diner building.
Looks like a couple of garden hoses are being put on it, they are small anyway. It also appears that the fire is underneath or on the bottom. I thought they were scheduled to rebuild that pier?

Lol I live in oceanside and didnt' know anything about this until I just saw this thread.
There is/was a restaurant out on the end of the pier. |
Illegals squatting in the closed restaurant? It is San Diego ...
where is the BIG fire boat or helicopters with drip tanks? Cut a fire break before the restaurant at least

OP, it's not San Diego's oceanside pier, It's Oceanside's pier.
It's like 30 miles to San Diego from here. |

Ruby's has been closed and the building vacant for awhile now. There's a small fish restaurant kiosk that opened adjacent to it. |

That is really bad for the environment. They shouldn’t do that.

Quoted: There was another restaurant kiosk that opened right next to it, The Brine Box, but not sure if it's still open. The people own at least another place here too. Back when I was in 6th or 7th grade (74 or 75) I got in trouble in school and had to attend summer school.
One day our class visited a guided missile cruiser in San Diego harbor. I remember seeing playboy pinups in the ship, and later I saw smoke from a boat of some sort in the harbor. I notified one of the sailors, and he said it was probably nothing (IIRC he said they were probably burning trash). A bit later the navy figured out a ship was burning and decided to do something, and they then took what seemed to me a very long time getting a boat into the water to assist. |

No big deal. Big winter surf chews off the ends of our piers every couple years. It will be rebuilt. The south side of the O'side pier is a great surf spot.

I dont get how the pier itself appears to be smoldering
