Quoted: Goat???? Brady - 7 Titles Russell - 11 Titles. Goat = Russell. View Quote If we are crossing sports it would have to be Babe Ruth.......arguably the best left handed pitcher in the majors then switched to become the best hitter in the majors. I don't know how anyone could be that coordinated but he did it and no one else has come remotely close. Plus he won 7 world series titles with 3 as a pitcher and 4 as a hitter. That is so unusual that it would seem to be a science fiction novel rather than real life. |

You know who dislikes Tom Brady? Losers, that’s who.
Winners appreciate, admire and respect what Brady has accomplished. He’s the ultimate underdog. Regular guy, no football pedigree like the Mannings. Not athletically gifted. Was an afterthought 199th in pick the the draft. Works his way up to backup and becomes the undisputed greatest to every play the game. He’s the ultimate team player. If he throws 5 TDs in a win, he gives everyone else the credit. He throws 5 TDs in a loss, and he takes the blame. He takes millions less in his prime for a decade for the good of the team. He makes no excuses. He’s ridiculously disciplined and holds himself accountable. Too slow. Too skinny. Not enough arm. Too old. He shrugs it all off and continues winning at the highest level. He makes losers uncomfortable. Losers want to have a cop out. They don’t want to hold themselves accountable. The guy worked his ass off and deserves every bit of what he’s achieved. |

Agreed 1000%
I would add, he knows how to put prima-donnas in their place and play as part of the team...ie. Antonio Brown. Very few players can elevate a whole teams spirit by coming on board. That kind of chutzpah is very hard to come by. Rumor is he wanted to come to SF to play and retire (since he's from the bay area). Bet they are kicking themselves on that one. Russell was great but Ruth being the best pitcher THEN the best hitter in the majors is the stuff dreams are made of. And broke the all time HR record in like his 6th season. His 1st 4 seasons he was a pitcher which means he only played every 3rd or 4th game. Could you imagine a QB coming into the NFL and breaking the career passing yards record in 6 seasons (while only playing part time for the first 4). Babe Ruth is the player who most dominated his sport to me. If he had stayed a pitcher, he might have still made the HoF. |

They both benefit from great teams, have put up great seasons and have great career stats and championships. Truly great players but hard to say they are the best ever at their position. They certainly have had the best careers at their position though. Brady made mediocre receivers like Deion Branch look like superstars, had no running backs, and some pretty average o-lines. C’mon man.... Deion Branch was a very good receiver, they had a good running game with well rounded backs that could block and catch too and he was carried by the defense in those days. It was only later that he really came into his own as a top QB. It is those early years where he was a system guy that makes some debate this issue. Deion went elsewhere to be “the man”. Granted they did liven the ball during his career and make them change balls once it was discolored. But, at the begining of his dominance, there were brown and soft baseballs. He completely change his sport and arguably killed gaudy stats pitchers enjoyed (like 30+ win seasons). That's three out of five. Gale Gillingham SHOULD be in the HOF as well. Gillingham was selected to five Pro Bowls when NFL head coaches picked the team; and he was named to the Newspaper Enterprise Association All-Pro Team four times when it was selected from 1954 to 1996 by a poll of NFL players and viewed as probably the most credible of the all-pro teams. Bob Lilly of the Cowboys called Gillingham far & away the best guard he ever played against. So that's four of five that are or should be in the HOF. What's the Cowboys got?????? |
