I didn't see any overweight Chiefs but did see an overweight warrant officer so I'll tentatively confirm the film's technical accuracy.

When they made the first Top Gun they started by filming some basic, by the book simulated air combat. They looked at it in the editing room and said, "it's just not dramatic enough. Get closer!" So they got closer. Makes for impressive footage but yeah, not even the slightest bit realistic for everyone to be flying around in fingertip and fighting at those distances. Shoot the enemy at that range and his wreckage is probably going to blow you or some other shmuck out of the sky. |

It looks like Goose's son is in an F-14 here and with the old A/B Martin Baker seat with the headrest ejection handles, not even the D model newer seat style.
I'm wondering what scenario would have an older Tomcat against an Su-57. Maybe he goes on a joyride flight somewhere in a vintage jet and gets jumped/killed by an Su-57? Looking forward to seeing this one though also as a kid of the 80s who watched the original hundreds of times, I am keeping my expectations moderate. View Quote |

Saw the first one in the theater with my dad right before we moved so he could go to aviation school in Pensacola.

View Quote You have to figure that filming began in 2018 or 2019, the F-35C had only just barely entered service by that time. The Hornet has visual recognition as the Navy's frontline fighter and everyone knows the Blue Angels. Its better for movie making. |

Final trailer until the next trailer?
We haven't seen vapor on this level since Duke Nukem 3D. Disappointment will probably be on the same scale too. |

And of course there is a female "Best of the best" fighter pilot.

I'm curious how they worked Iceman into the film aside from the portrait, given Val Kilmer's speech difficulties and overall poor physical aspect.

I actually was pumped about it but then I saw the super long trailer. Once I saw they regurgitated half the scenes from the original, I'm all set. (Volleyball scene, piano scene, etc) Hollywood struggles to come up with original ideas nowadays, they just make worse versions of the greats.

Top Gun one and Flight of the Intruder. When they came out so many years ago I was crewing a Huey. 110 knots was balls to the walls for us. We were so jealous. There are a new generation of young Blackhawk crews who are just about to be green with envy and wishing they'd of chosen jets instead. Hell, I'm wishing I was young again just so I could climb into a Huey again just so I could spend my life going 90 knots.
Yea, I'll be there for this one. kwg |

When it rolled in my theater this weekend, it said "Coming Next Summer".
to me that means "not in 2022". Otherwise it would have said "Coming This summer" |
