HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) - Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell, a 25-year-old Black female who is 5'4, 150-160 pounds and resides in Hoover, was reported missing July 13.
Tuesday - 9 p.m. Update: The Hoover Police Department released new details in their investigation of what happened between Carlee Russell’s disappearance last Thursday night, July 13, and her return home on Saturday night, July 15. Among the new details, police say after leaving the Colonnade Thursday, she went to Target on Highway 280 and purchased snack food that wasn’t found in her car when they found it on the side of Interstate 459. Police also say they have found no evidence of a toddler walking down the interstate. We’re told surveillance video from Carlee’s neighborhood shows her walking alone down a sidewalk before getting to her home. Police also say when first responders arrived at her home, she was conscious and speaking to them when they arrived. Hoover PD says they are waiting for a chance to get a second interview with Carlee. A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, July 19 at 2:30 p.m. WBRC will carry this press conference live on WBRC FOX6, WBRC.com, and in the WBRC News app. https://www.wbrc.com/2023/07/14/hoover-police-searching-missing-25-year-old-woman/ |

Hoover police continue to investigate Carlee Russell’s disappearance and are still awaiting her “to be made available to obtain a more detailed statement,” the department said Tuesday night.
Police said they expect to release more information at a press conference planned for Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. .. After leaving work at a day spa, it was previously reported, she picked up dinner at the Taziki’s in the Colonade. After leaving Taziki’s, police said Tuesday, she purchased snack food at the Target. .. “These items were not located in the vehicle or with her cell phone and wig at the scene of her disappearance,” a police statement read. .. Detectives have obtained surveillance video from Russell’s neighborhood that shows her walking down the sidewalk alone prior to her arrival home Saturday night, the statement continued. “Fire department radio traffic obtained by several media outlets shows that medics were dispatched to her residence on an “unresponsive but breathing” person. That was the term used in the initial dispatch of the Hoover Fire Department to the residence, and the information about her condition was simply a dispatcher relaying information from what a 911 caller told the emergency communicator,” the statement read. However, first responders found Russell conscious and speaking when she was transported to UAB Hospital, police said. https://www.al.com/news/2023/07/carlee-russell-bought-snacks-at-target-before-vanishing-was-talking-when-she-returned-home-police-say.html |

Would the HPD need a warrant to get the details of her purchases from Target?
If so, you can see where this is going... |

View Quote Pretty sure Target would give it up if PD asked for the info. Since it's part of an ongoing investigation. She won't make herself available because she knows she's screwed. She and the whole family are trying to weave together a story that might pass the sniff test but it's not going to work. She'll be exposed. She won't even release details about her so called "kidnapper". |

They might torture you, though. By painting your nails pink. I can deal with that as long as they have Tabasco and White Cheddars I'd stick around for an extra day if they were serving up some Tabasco Cheezits. Well, you'll be sticking around forever, because Tabasco Cheezits were discontinued. https://i.imgflip.com/1ol8bu.jpg Yep. One of my favorite snacks, ever. |

Everyone would be ok, the cops would let it go, and then it's no longer a news story. Dead in less than 24 hours. They have made it worse by attempting the coverup. Continuing to say she was kidnapped is driving the burb soccer moms crazy. They are burning up the PD and media with is it safe to leave the house questions. IME, it's better to cut your losses quick, do the fess up, take the punishment and move on. |

That is a good point and clarifies if they hired a lawyer or not... any decent lawyer would likely advise the same thing. Or if not a mental break and was actually a drug binge... then sending her to rehab. Still might catch some charges but would likely be on the lowend of the spectrum. |

Quoted: Hughes explained that the FBI contacted Traffic Cam Archive to ask why 1 minute and 46 seconds of footage was cut from the full video. Traffic camera footage was cut before Carlee parked her red Mercedes Benz just out of camera range on I-459. No child is seen in the footage… Carlee’s Mercedes was parked out of camera range for over 3 minutes. .... that's interesting. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Now they're claiming that ~2 minutes were cut from the traffic cam video. The gap starts when she's parked, and another car is signaling to pull over on the shoulder nearby. This also says that she took her dinner with her when she was "kidnapped".

UNCONFIRMED. RUMOR level only. She did this to get attention from an exBF, not the current BF, she was also flunking out of nursing school, on drugs and got stealing from her job. When she staged the kidnapping, a friend picked her up after she followed a trail through the wood line. Took her to the Red Roof Inn. She apparently had another device and unblocked the exBF to establish contact with him. He contacted HPD. She didn't expect this thing to blow up like it did. Called her friend and parents. Parents went to the Red Roof Inn to pick her up. Items from target and taken from her employment were not in the car but her food order was in the car. Searches did not locate any evidence of carlee or the child 10:44 pm on 7/15 911 call that carlee was home. Carlee brief statement at hospital to detectives: told detectives she saw baby on side of road and called 911. A man came out of the trees and picked her up, forced her into a car, then remembers being in a trailer of an 18 wheeler, man was with a woman, but did not see the woman. Man had orange hair and a bald spot. Escaped 18 wheeler once but was recaptured and blindfolded but not tied up so there wouldn't be bruises. took her to a house, undressed her and took photos. Internet searches from her phone possibly related to her mental state that won't be released due to privacy concerns. Unable to verify facts contained Carlee's initial statements, no reason to believe threat to public safety related to this case |
