When we make chili, it has beans, meat, tomato paste, onions, peppers of various types. If it doesnt have beans, it's meat sauce and we just buy texas pete brand for that.

Fake or no, can't take chili advise from a heathen that cooks steak to well and uses ketchup on them.

Lentils. View Quote Lots of bacon, lots of spicy sausage (chorizo), lots of country ham (with the bone), enough chopped tomato with juice, olive oil fried chopped onion, salt, pepper, some water, and that’s it. 9 minutes in the instant pot and it’s done. |

I usually make chili pretty loose, then tighten it up as needed with masa flour.
And yes, as a true Ohio-born mofo, I will put that shit over pasta and throw a couple handfuls of shredded cheese on it. |

Oh gawd! Ban this man.

Among the usual, chopped maters & onions, cayenne powder, dash of brown sugar.
Pork & beans as I don't care for those big dark kidney ones. One of a few reasons I left Texas...beanless is godless. |
Some ground turkey. It gives a little depth to the meaty flavor
corn & fire roasted tomatoes
I have seen pepperoni I have seen mushrooms yea I put beans in too (I like them I wasn't making it for you) but I have made chili with only chunks of steak, or deer. |
My recipe is pretty basic, but I do use Carolina Reapers (2-4 typically) in my chili. Alot of people say they like it spicy, but in my experience very few actually do.

Pork roast smoked over an aspen fire, pablanos, jalepenos, anaheims, onion, a little diced roma tomato. Add cumin, garlic , cilantro, celery salt and a little oregano. Cook , cool and cook again over two or three days time {just like stews , always better after a re-heat}. I have 9 gallons simmering right now to feed all the shop guys lunch on Tuesday. |
Chopped smoked brisket, cocoa powder, and a dash of apple cider vinegar
My chili is pretty strait up & traditional nothing unusual But I do enjoy a PB&j sandwich with my chili

I make a black bean chorizo sausage/ground chuck chili that's the second best thing you ever ate.
Red curry paste.
That, and actual heat. edited to add As there should be no standing liquids in proper chili (it's not soup) I'll add refried black beans as a thickening agent. Compared to watery chili beans are the lesser of two weevils. |

ex co-worker used to throw all kinda stuff in his. claims it won multiple contest. said he put pinapple and fluffernutter in it. lol
