Actor Alan Ladd, who starred in many westerns (including the one featured in my avatar), was actually very short in stature, and he was often standing on milk crates to make him appear taller in shots showing him around other people.

Michael Mann is notorious for taking absurd amounts of shoots before he likes a scene. According to Hank Azarria, on the 50th take of the "Great ASS!!!!!" scene in Heat, Pacino was getting pissed and that's why he delivered the line like that. Mann either really liked that take or he got the message and decided to move on.

Remember that science in Red Dawn when the communist are parachuting down during the invasion. Well during the filming a few parachuting extras drifted pretty far and were captured by local farmers.

Quoted: Jaws, Robert Shaw, Quint, was the most Professionally accomplished actor and writer in the film. Much of his dialogue was Adlib, Much of the Indianapolis story, and especially his jabs at Dryfus whom he hated. He also had 10 children IRL. View Quote He was also half in the bag for most of the scenes. I really like this guy! |

James Caan seems to be a genuine NY hard ass. On the set of Eldorado, John Wayne would call him kid and things like that. He never reacted to, or was phased by it and felt Wayne respected him for that.
James also wore 3” lifts after the first day, being vertically challenged and all. |

When Susan Backlinie gets eaten in Jaws the look of pain on her face is real. She had ropes around her body, and people running on the beach pulling her around. They broke her ribs.

The movie the bodyguard with Kevin Costner was originally written with Steve McQueen in mind.Steve turned it down and it sat on a shelf for years,Costner had his characters hair cut like Mcqueens as a nod to the late actor.
In the movie Fight Club ,during the scene where Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are hitting golf balls, they are absolutely bombed out of their mind from drinking all night prior to the scene being shot. Lee Marvin turned down the role of Quint in Jaws after reading the script and sayin”Ain’t no god damn shark going to eat me” |

Quoted: During the filming of Gettysburg, Martin Sheen's grand children were with him (emilio Estevez's kids) and they were waiting on a press shoot in the sun. My dad (a reanactor) invited him under the shade of his tent and sat and talked for 45 minutes. He said he was very down to earth. They didn't pay the hundreds of reanactor s anything, but there was a food tent where they could go 24/7 and get anything from bananas to lobster. View Quote It was the same way on the set of the movie "Glory". I was 13yo at the time, and a re enactor (drummer boy, 13th Virginia infantry), one of thousands on the set. I smashed the hell out of the free food. Happened to sit at the same mess table with Broderick and Freeman once. |

The Godfather: The scene at the opening wedding party where Luca Brasi is caught rehearsing his congratulatory speech to Vito is actually a clip of the actor, Lenny Montana, caught rehearsing his line for the scene. |

In Escape from NY, the movie crew contracted NYC to shut power down to a few city blocks each night to film. In between scenes, Kurt, in full Snake Plisken garb, heads around the corner to grab a snack from a shop with power on.
On the way back, some real bad hombres indicate they are going to rob him, so he points the MAC-10 prop gun at them and says he’s going to empty the magazine if they don’t turn around. It worked. |

I knew most of the guys in the first few minutes of A Few Good Men. The "Drill Team" were actually members of the fish Drill Team. We were all members of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M when the scene was filmed. It was surreal seeing so many people I know on the big screen.

legend has it that during the filming of the Biggus Dickus scene in Monty Python's Life of Brian, the extras who played the Roman soldiers were warned in advance not to laugh during the filming or else they would be fired.
Which of course made the extras FAR more prone to laughter. You can see them visibly thinking "dont laugh, don't laugh don't laugh..." Which of course John Cleese and Michael Palin knew, and were counting on to make the scene even funnier. So they didn't tell the extras what the dialogue was, just "Cleese and Palin are gonna ad-lib a little." Biggus Dickus - Monty Python's Life of Brian |

Quoted: The producers of Fast Times At Ridgemont High tried, but could not get the rights to use music from side one of Led Zeppelin IV View Quote In a similar vein, the Coen Brothers wanted to use Eagles songs in the Big Lebowski, based on music director T Bone Burnett's suggestion. But the Eagles wanted too much money to license the songs, so they made the Dude hate the fukkin Eagles man. Also, they used the Gypsy Kings version of Hotel California in the Jesus bowling alley intro to get around the double license. Lol. |

kind of a silly one. in the title scene of the Rat Patrol, you see the jeeps come over a dun, one at a time. Its the same scene, same jeep as the jump almost broke the back of Christopher George. so instead of the second jeep going over the dune, they just used the same footage twice.
