I'm familiar with the Single Ten, GP100, SP101, and 617

If you don't mind used a Harrington Richardson 922 comes to mind. They can usually be had for about $125-150 if you shop around. Maybe even cheaper.

H&R Sportsman a 9 shot break open. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/18991/19088577-2-119725.JPG View Quote I'd given one of these a thought however the prices seem to be steadily increasing and since they've been out of production since the mid 80s what is the spare parts situation like? Aside from that though how do they shoot? |

I had an AirLight .22 that was just fantastic, can't remember, but I am pretty sure it held ten Pills.

To open the action on the H&R don't you have to life the sight?

High Standard model R-106 or R-107.
No longer in production but can be found used. 9 shot capacity. |

I have a 617 fantastic gun but I bought it because I have a 686.
But it is not cheap, worth it to me, but not cheap |

As others have posted, I love my H&R 999 Sportsman. Mine has the 4" barrel, I keep looking for one with the 6" barrel. Mine is plenty accurate, I'd just like to have one of each.

The later Model 999 Double Action Sportsman pistols are easier to find; I'd buy one if I came across one. My Model 99 is either the first or second handgun I bought for myself. I vaguely remember the shop west of Langley AFB, but not which road or the shop name; I think the road ran North-South. The front sight on these revolvers is adjustable. Occasionally a duck tail grip shows up, they're an excellent aid for aiming; I haven't found a photo on the internet to show. |

OP, given your taste for old timers? High Standard Sentinel
ETA: 10 seconds? And with a picture too |

If they didn't cost as much as a decent Sig 229/226 I'd vote for the 617. I shot one and absolutely loved it. Planned on buying one until I saw the price tag. View Quote Unfortunately, the cost to manufacture in labor and materials is probably not much different than their centerfire models, so yes they are expensive. I lucked into a used 4" 617-6 pretty cheap, I love it. |

Even though you mentioned it I love mine. Nice sights on the gun too. http://www.ruger.com/products/newModelSingleSixSingleTen/images/8100.jpg View Quote I have the Ruger Single Ten. It is an inaccurate POS. I have not had good luck with Ruger .22 revolvers. |

I recently picked up a H&R Sportsman to add to my collection. Didn't have a top-break revolver nor a .22 double action. I have not been able to shoot it much but I do like it. One thing to keep in mind if you find one, keep the hammer on an empty cylinder. Mine was made in the late 30's and the hammer can impact the primer hard enough to set the round off if dropped.

+1 on the 317, but man they are pricey these days new. It's a great pack gun.
I have a Taurus 94 ultralight in 22 and honestly, it's not bad at all, and a 22LR isn't exactly going to stress the thing mechanically. |

This! My personal favorite rimfire revolver. View Quote Same here... had mine for years, still love to shoot it. Accurate, decent trigger... been stone cold reliable... Love the Break top action... easy to load/unload... Someone should make a new updated version on this action... |
