Can you really say that an F40 or F1 was a "production car" as neither were available for normal sale. You could not just walk into a Ferrari dealer and buy a new F40.

Shelby 427SC Cobra.  I don't think anything else has been as outrageously as much overkill as that car during that time.

The model T was very outrageous for it's time.  Cars were a fantasy for most people and here comes ol Henry with something obtainable.

The already mentioned Shelby cobra has to take a spot for sure.

My next choice is the dmc 12.  From coke to Hollywood this car has it all.

The C5 Corvette brought actual performance to the Corvette name and introduced us all to the LS platform.

Finally the Dodge hellcat.  It has since been surpassed but this car is the original bad ass.  707 on tap off the showroom floor even now seems like a nonsensical fantasy.  What a time to be alive!

Rolls essentially did that with the Cullinan. At true Rolls on the road with all the capabilities of real off-road use. Yes, I know the looks get mixed reviews but the engineering is going to be almost impossible to beat anytime soon.

I think the 959 was probably one of the best mentioned vehicles so far. The tech on that car was so ahead of it's time. 8 hydraulicly linked dampers, sequential turbos, adjustable ride height on the fly. A lot of stuff that is only now becoming commonplace on anything other than superexotics, 30 years later, some still hasn't made it to normal market. What tech has ever been able to claim that.

All of those cars are insanely fast, the Tesla being the odd one out but can be just as quick 0-60 yet have full interior, auto drive, a windshield that goes 1/3 of the way up the car etc. Many of those cars are made of carbon fiber, with options to have exposed carbon as the finish

Can't exclude by that measure - any Ferrari by nature is exclusive. You can't walk in the showroom and  stroke a check. You'll be vetted and likely asked to produce a history or ownership. Pisses my buddy off cos he's a wheel

Limited models, even with long relationship with the Marque, fat bank account, and social prestige, there's no guarantee. Lots of serious Ferrari cognoscenti are relegated to the secondary.

I could see an argument for things like Glicks SGC 003. But stuff like Yenko/COPO to LFA to GT40 are similarly restricted, but production all the same.

That kind of acceleration in a sled like a full-sized '65 Pontiac is way more impressive than being "pinned to the seat" in a 911 Turbo

290hp stock.  Carb jets an air cleaner and headers do not equal 500hp.  Maybe 340hp at best.  Still slower than a Solstice.  The good old days sucked.
