Shelby 427SC Cobra. I don't think anything else has been as outrageously as much overkill as that car during that time. 0mph to 100mph to 0mph in the same time it took a similar vintage 427 Corvette to get from 0mph to 100mph. Yea, those were pretty badass. Basically a "hey, look at the cool shit we can make!" show car that made it into production. If that thing had a supercharged v6, or a Hemi, it woulda been awesome.

The Chrysler Airflow from the 30's.
Way ahead of its time in the aerodynamic department, but the public didn't like its looks. |

The model T was very outrageous for it's time. Cars were a fantasy for most people and here comes ol Henry with something obtainable.
The already mentioned Shelby cobra has to take a spot for sure. My next choice is the dmc 12. From coke to Hollywood this car has it all. The C5 Corvette brought actual performance to the Corvette name and introduced us all to the LS platform. Finally the Dodge hellcat. It has since been surpassed but this car is the original bad ass. 707 on tap off the showroom floor even now seems like a nonsensical fantasy. What a time to be alive! |

Maybe if Rolls-Royce or Mercedes made 25 million dollar sedan, with the most ridiculous levels of craftsmanship and Technology I couldn't even begin to describe, then maybe I could add another to the list, that's basically what it would take to equate to those two View Quote https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn86QkAFc4piQiBRkzk4txQ |

I think the 959 was probably one of the best mentioned vehicles so far. The tech on that car was so ahead of it's time. 8 hydraulicly linked dampers, sequential turbos, adjustable ride height on the fly. A lot of stuff that is only now becoming commonplace on anything other than superexotics, 30 years later, some still hasn't made it to normal market. What tech has ever been able to claim that.

Mclaren senna Koensegg one:1 Porsche 918 Tesla model x All of those cars are insanely fast, the Tesla being the odd one out but can be just as quick 0-60 yet have full interior, auto drive, a windshield that goes 1/3 of the way up the car etc. Many of those cars are made of carbon fiber, with options to have exposed carbon as the finish |

Can you really say that an F40 or F1 was a "production car" as neither were available for normal sale. You could not just walk into a Ferrari dealer and buy a new F40. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Limited models, even with long relationship with the Marque, fat bank account, and social prestige, there's no guarantee. Lots of serious Ferrari cognoscenti are relegated to the secondary. I could see an argument for things like Glicks SGC 003. But stuff like Yenko/COPO to LFA to GT40 are similarly restricted, but production all the same. |
