Ages 13-16? I wore the Reebok pump basketball shoes and Vision Street Wear when I went through my skater phase.

Whatever was on sale at the beginning of the school year.
Now I buy New Balance and Asics since they fit the best on my feet. |
|
I had a pair of Reebok Pumps for a few months until they shit the bed.
I wore a lot of lame shoes growing up because I have REALLY wide feet and they didn't make wide sizes for kids in the 80's. Luckily, the length of my foot caught up and I don't have quite as much trouble finding shoes anymore. |

When I was a kid it was whatever was the absolute cheapest and I wore them until they fell apart. .. I don't think I had a pair of name brand shoes until I was a senior in high school or maybe in college. .

Puma Clyde
Pony suede This was the 1980's The shoes ran about $30...this was usually my birthday present. |

old school, Keds, if we could afford them, or Converse Jeepers/Winners from Sears if we couldn't.

When I was young back in the 60's, my Mom would buy me the Bo-BO sneakers you would find in a big basket at the Sipermarket. I bet yoy they were 99cents at the time.
Chuck Taylors when I got older.. |
|
Vans pretty much my whole life and still continue to wear them.

Probably the same brand Mr. Rogers wore.
Imagine tennis shoes shaped like bowling shoes, only flatter. I guess that would be keds. |

Age 13-16 it was Puma soccer shoes. I remember as soon as we'd exit the store with my new PF Flyers on I'd do sprints and burn outs in the parking lot to try them out. |
|
Chuck Taylors --> Vision Street Wear --> Vans --> Air Jordans --> Doc Martens --> It's been a free for all ever since.

Zips. I loved them; they made me run fast and jump high. I remember Mom once bought me two pairs of Zips at the same time, a red pair and a blue pair. I was in hog fucking heaven.
Later she started making me wear Pro Wings from Payless |
|
|
Keds or PF Flyers as a young boy, then Adidas when I was a teenager.
ETA: Actually, they were probably Converse now that I think of it. |
|
Keds.
I didn't know there was any other brand at the time. The 60s was a strange time. If you can remember it, you really weren't there. |
|
Suede Pumas and shell toe Adidas then I hit my skater phase and it was Air walks and Vans
|

My parents were on the poor side so my sisters, brother and I all wore no name, bottom barrel, bargain basement, whatever was cheapest shoes/sneakers.
As an adult I can count on one hand the pairs of shoes/sneakers I have. I currently have a pair of Nike sneakers and a pair of Timberland work boots. I bought the sneakers three years ago and the boots two years ago. |
