I do remember seeing a pic of me in elementary school, basketball team photo, wearing a pair of white Nike high tops.
Now in middle school, I had the original pair of Jordans, The Magic Johnson Converse and at some point the blue and white nike pumps. My everyday wear were either K Swiss or Reebok white hightops. |

PF Flyers or something like that. Red Ball was another. Loved it as a kid, That is all you had anyway. :))

Growing up in CA, skating and racing BMX pretty much all we wore were Vans.

|
Was a golf caddie for 5 years when I was younger - always wore the Adidas version of shox.
Now I run with Brooks trail Cascadias 95% of the time. |

At that age I was probably wearing buffalo sandals or barefoot. I was a hippy teenager.
Eta early-mid 70's |

Most of the time I had cheap Nike knock offs but one year I got Kangaroos with the zipper pocket. I thought they were so cool at the time.

Converse high tops, or PF Flyers. Those were the only two options we knew of

Keds, then Jack Purcells in middle school because they were the best "brake shoes" for homemade mini bikes, and then Converse in HS. I wear NB now.

New Balance with a few Nike's mixed in, still wear New Balance.

we didn't have a lot of money growing up so I never had a pair of name brand sneakers in school. Actually even after I got out of school and had my own money I've only owned two pairs of name brand sneakers, one pair of Adidas and a pair of Nikes that I bouht a couple of years ago for running on the treadmill. I tried running in my hunting boots and it didn't work so well for my back.

PF Flyers
RedBall Jets Converse (Chuck Taylors...both high and low top, canvas and suede....and the suede weighed 3lbs each) Adidas SL72's were my first real hi tech running shoe. $22 when I was making $1.80 an hour at Safeway. |

WHen I was 13 I have the Reebok Shaq Attaq 3's... that was probably the last year I cared about having "cool" shoes. After that it was airwalks and vans. Before then it was like your social status was tied directly to what shoes you wore... looking back on that as an adult the whole thing seems insane, but that's middle school for ya. http://miszapas.net/media/1993-94-Reebok-Shaq-Attaq-Black.jpg View Quote I had these Shaq pumps. My dad was exceedingly cheap, but understood that shoes were important. He took me shopping for hours for basketball shoes when I was in 5th grade. He almost caved for a pair of the previous year's Jordans, at least he let me try them on. Finally we found a pair of Shaq Pumps and several pairs of Air Force Ones on clearance. The Forces would have been better shoes, but I wanted those pumps. Dad went for them even though they were way too big. I remember wearing them up through 8th grade. My dad still gets a good laugh out of those shoes. |

Chuck Taylors. Bradlee's would have big bins of Chucks. They weren't in pairs, just big bins of loose sneakers. We'd dig through looking for two the same size and color. They were poor kid shoes back then, I think $3.00/pair (1970's).
New Balance, Nike high tops, and work boots through the 80's. After 1986 it was LPC's every day. |

Converse, maybe? All I really remember was getting them from the grocery store. It kept us busy for awhile trying to find our size in that big basket. |
|
Nikes and that's pronounced nike as in rhymes with bike. They were white leather and you either got a red swoosh or a blue one and a bottle of white shoe paint to fix the scratches.
|
|
Hi-top shoes usually nike, puma, converse. K Swiss and Reebok too. Never wore canvas shoes.
|
|
Converse was the shit when I was in elementary school. Puma and reebok in middle school. Nike and Adidas later. Now it's mostly New Balance.

LOL, We wore the crappy sneakers in the bargain bin at the grocery store. We called them "BoBos". Thing is, they lasted forever. I didn't buy my first pair of Nikes until I was in High School.

after not needing special ortho shoes anymore, i wore whatever my parents could afford to buy me that managed to fit and was somewhat comfortable.

I'm still young. I wear Ariat cowbow boots. I have a pair a tennipumps. I'm not sure on the brand.
