It kinda depends on what they’re talking about.
Forgotten Weapons, Lucky Gunner, Sage Dynamics, 9 Hole, Honest Outlaw, Garand Thumb, 22Plinkster, and Hickock all do different things to varying levels of competence. |

It completely depends on what subjects they're talking about.
I don't need a combat soldier, SF or otherwise, to teach me about individual SD tactics. In that type of knowledge, a BTDT police officer or trainer would be better. The former is an expert at team tactics, where I don't have a team. The later are more geared towards individual tactics, which is what I need. In the same vein, if a bunch of my neighborhood friends have a little group of like minded individuals, and we want to train to be effective at protecting our area from other roving gangs in a SHTF scenario, I want that content present by an experienced combat soldier or former SF guy. Reviewing guns, a not boring, but not long winded, experienced shooter will work. Someone who can give objective comment on the pros and cons of weapons he tests. Assembly/ disassembly / repair / diagnosing malfunctions etc, an armorer, or a gunsmith, or an individual well versed on the gun in question. |

Because when you’re presenting yourself as an authority, you better have the background to back it up. That was my biggest issue with the NRA Instructor and Utah BCI Certified Firearm Permit instructor stuff, all of them thought they were Kyle Lamb.
I was the youngest Utah CFP instructor in my state at the time, and I acted like it. I gave the people the information as it was outlined by the Utah BCI, nothing more and nothing less. That’s not to say that I couldn’t answer technical questions, but I wasn’t going to tell someone how to survive a fire fight in Fallujah when I’ve never served, nor tell them how to effectively restrain someone during an arrest, as I’ve never been in LE. And yes, those were both two questions I was asked. |
