I had a slight mishap with my table saw taking a bite out of me.
Would you take a trip to the hospital? Attached File Attached File I'm in the let it heal by itself camp. I stopped the bleeding then went back to what I was doing. |
I dunno, a kiss from mommy and a band aid? Looks like you got really lucky.
When does sawstop's patent run out? I'd like to upgrade table saws then.

I dont think the hospital would do much besides clean it and bandage it up. Id do that at home and make sure it doesn’t get infected.

Grab a paper towel from the rack in my shop...duct tape some around my thumb. Get back to work.
When the work is done, clean it out with soap and water, bandaid, done. |

That's kinda deep. You might get some permanent nerve damage out of that deal.
Nothing much the ER can really do though, probably. Sterilize that bitch real good and bandage 'er up. ETA: Or go to the ER if you want a stitch or two. |
Clean it well, then tape it up, not really able to stitch that one well.
ETA… I’d also trim off that hanging meat. |
I usually just cuss and yell. Maybe throw something.
Your lucky! I want a saw stop. |
I took almost quarter inch off the top of my right thumb and it was hanging by a flap of skin. I was using a bandsaw and someone while I was focused tapped me on the shoulder and I looked back and finger went into blade. We glued it back on, that was 30 years ago and it's fine.
Personally I would clean it, antibiotic topical and then cover it. |
lol, not many men would go to the ER or a doctor for that flesh wound.
Put some lemon juice on it, then try picking up some salty nuts.
Looks like you got really lucky. All I managed to do today was to drive a brad nail into the end of my thumb with the air nailer.
I was building a box joint jig for the table saw and got careless for a second. |

Did this to my pinkie with a chainsaw. Bled for a couple days but no doctors or stitches |
Not much blood, anemic? Neosporin and bandage and wrap. Probably should piss on it to clean first. Next few days are going to be annoying.
Had one just about that size and depth a few weeks ago. I had a bandaid on it for three days. Then i trimmed the dead skin on the edges and just let it heal in the open air from then on. It's completely healed now.

Paper towel and electrical tape. You'll be fine, no hospital needed.
Physician ladyfriend doesn't think it could effectively be stitched up.
Put some antibiotic ointment on it, wrap it up and go buy a lotto ticket!

Doesn't look bad at all.
I'd still stick in in the wife's butthole. |
I had a similar experience with a tablesaw. Thumb touched the blade, then things went bad very quickly.
152 stiches, 3 stainless K wires, and that was just the first surgery. |
Not in the medical field, but I did have a table saw incident with three fingers. They didn't do much for me other that wrap them up and give me some happy pills. They won't be able to stich anything back together because the skin got ripped off, not sliced open.
I hope it heals as well as mine did. |

Clean it well, put Bactraban on it, and a fingertip bandage. After a day or two some Dermabond and call it good.
I like liquid bandage type products, just paint it on and you are good.
Does sting a bit though. |
