Quoted: Dip in Acetone. Scream. Wrap in Scotch 33 black electrical tape. Go back to work. Any good welder can fix it if my suggestion doesn't work. View Quote Electrical tape is non-adherent at least. For the people saying to bandage it, you don't want a dressing that's going to stick to the wound secretions and pull all that out when you change it. It'll just take longer to heal. You want a non-adherent dressing. If you don't have a couple in the first aid kit then get some, they're cheap. |

Quoted: @collector_rob I didn't think that was made any longer, how old is that bottle? Is it a mercury free version being marketed to boomers that can't let go of the past? View Quote |

Quoted: I dont think the hospital would do much besides clean it and bandage it up. Id do that at home and make sure it doesn’t get infected. View Quote This. But how did you get it to stop bleeding. Fingers are the worst IME. I'd have to leave a bandaid (pressure) on it for an hour before it would clot. (I've been on 325mg aspirin daily for 10+ yrs though, so maybe I just forgot how it works for normal people) |

I lost the end of my thumb to the knuckle, and it only took a sec. Say thank you to the Big Guy up stairs. Glad you still have your thumb OP.

Quoted: Physician ladyfriend doesn't think it could effectively be stitched up. View Quote It can't. There is skin missing. It will have to granulate. I've had way worse injuries than the with no trip to the hospital. Not bragging. There just isn't much they can do for a small flesh wound that I can't take care of at home. |

No white/yellow parts showing or hanging out
Bandaid and wrap it up - it’ll heal. |

Quoted: Not in the medical field, but I did have a table saw incident with three fingers. They didn't do much for me other that wrap them up and give me some happy pills. They won't be able to stich anything back together because the skin got ripped off, not sliced open. I hope it heals as well as mine did. View Quote @AJE Years ago, our friend Doug from Monday Night matches got tangled up in his table saw. Mangled fingers of his left hand pretty good. His first night back, still bandaged up, you should have seen his reloads. I've never seen a magazine inserted into a 1911 so gently. |

Took my ex to the er for a meat slicer injury. You could see fatty tissue and muscle. She damn near puked when the doc stuck a needle in the cut. They gave her 3 stitches and sent her home. They'll probably tell you to keep it clean, change bandages regularly, take pain meds as needed, and keep an eye out for any weird infectiony shit.

It took awhile before I could touch my fingertips and it not hurt like hell. |

Not a fan of hospitals and Dr. for smaller stuff.
Real big fan of taking the time and effort to clean it and get it covered. When you are looking at mostly meat and it isn't squirting blood I define that as small stuff. When you look at it and can see stuff like bone or ligaments , yeah , pull out the insurance card and go for a trip |

wash it well, iodine, gauze, and I doubt I'd find medical tape so electrical tape.

Quoted: I had a slight mishap with my table saw taking a bite out of me. Would you take a trip to the hospital? https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/384916/20230107_182555_jpg-2664347.JPG https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/384916/20230107_182625_jpg-2664353.JPG I'm in the let it heal by itself camp. I stopped the bleeding then went back to what I was doing. View Quote Peroxide and a bandaid. |

I would consider you have aids with solar power. Put a blanket on your nuts too.

Ouch.... You were lucky! Damn lucky!
I remember a HS shop teacher back in the 70's (I don't think schools have "shop" classes anymore), but Mr. Schaller was the Wood Shop teacher and lost his index finger, middle finger, and 1/2 of his ring finger is a tragic accident way back in the day. All I remember was, he was mean and nasty and (obviously) safety was #1 priority. Anybody, anywhere, f---ed up in his class, BOOM... Off to the principals office! |

Years ago I got myself in the thigh with a circular saw but it was fairly shallow. I rinsed it out with part of a beer and made a bandage out of paper towels and duct tape. It healed pretty nicely.

Soak it in cider.
ETA-beat. Still not bleeding? Keep it clean, let it heal, don't pay the ER $1000. |

Quoted: That looks painful! Did you cut any tendons or nerve bundles? View Quote Both, but I found a willing donor for the nerves. Yeah, that pic was part of the treatment. They skinned out each finger and removed scar tissue. They also woke me up during the procedure to check movement in the fingers. Don't like morphine so I took aspirin for pain. Anyone need a great hand surgeon? SRM |

Not a doc but BTDT.
Flush it with HP or Hibiclens. Air dry, antibiotic ointment, bandage/band aid. Watch for redness or swelling and change dressing twice a day. |
|
For that little scratch? I'd wash it and put a bandaid on it.
