If you are not concerned with a true SMG, and yes a own a couple...

I would go PSA AR-V or even AK-V.

I have the AR-V and love it.
Same manual of arms as an AR-15, purpose built "from the ground up" to take only CZ Scorpion mags.
The trigger is way better than the CZ Scorp and it looks right to me. Form and function.

Pistols are pistols, rifles are rifles.  Fucks pcc's.  Have you seen how long a threat stays a threat after being poked with a pistol?  Way too long for comfort.  Pistols are a tool of convenience.

I'll agree with that completely, but in full auto, the rate of fire is too fast and it's kinda chattery......not very smooth.
The trigger of course is typical HK and completely sucks ass....worse than a Glock.  And the extractor/spring design is complete shit.
But hey, it sure looks cool and if you want to hang with the cool kids, its a must have.

I don't disagree with you often, but can't say I find the MP5 in full auto to be as you describe it. The other criticisms are valid points, though.

Some purest here will likely say not a carbine, but whatever. The Pro version is an awesome PDW... and currently my favorite thing to shoot.

But you aren't getting it hooked up for less than 2K. I've easily spent twice that on what's pictured, without factoring in that suppressor or spare mags. Or the spare Glock lower I have for it. And all those mags.  And the Wolfman in jail.

If you have any interest in staying away from potential pistol/brace issues, then the CX-4 is definitely worth looking at. Even as a legal rifle it's really compact, mags everywhere, and proven reliable. Not to mention its a ton of fun.

I dont own one yet, but i might learn towards the sig.. It supposedly has a more muted recoil like an mp5... the scorpion is more 'violent' in its recoil, but still a fine modern weapon, unless you want all metal, then go sig.. Mp5/ap5/sp5/ isn't a bad idea, but they are a 60 year old design and a little harder to 'trick out' (but still possible).

Be aware the sigs have some issues with accuracy and 'non brand' sig suppressors.. something to do with harmonics and their whacky threading they use...

MP5 is hard to beat unless your willing to swing for an SD or your willing to pony up for a Best MM MP5.  Not going to lie though.  My MP5SD I built is my absolute favorite rifle.

Watch out for the Glock mag gayness   It has an application but honestly something that gets shot a lot isn’t one of them.

I have a AP5-P and it’s more fun to shoot than anything else I have. It has its drawbacks, but it also makes me smile big when I’m shooting it. Anything else without delayed blowback would be a let down.

When the Zenith-imported clones were selling for over $2000, I just said "Well, maybe some day".

When Century started importing them and Atlantic was listing them at $1100, it was "Add to Cart".

I'll talk to the Turkish and HK MP5s.  Great guns.  But you have to remember

THE HK TAX

EVERYTHING is more expensive.

Mags - German - $80 ($70 on sale)
          Turkish - $50

Mount a light - Surefire Forend $500+

Stock $500+ Plus NFA $200 Tax

Sight - Does the gun come with a Mount?  If not $150 plus the Sight and Co Witness is a TOUGH ask

Great guns, accurate, little recoil, but EXPENSIVE.

---------------------------

Kel Tec Sub 2000

I have a Gen 1 - Gen 2 Easier to mount a (1) Light and (2) Sight

Mags Glock ($25-33)

Recoil - a bit more due to direct blow back but you can get a recoil buffer to help with it.  Simple and efficient action - like a WW2 British Sterling SMG.

If you want a truck gun - this is the way.

A genuine HK SP5 made by Germans on up-to-date German tooling would be a better option than multiple throwaway MKE range toys. Would you rather have 1 good toy, or 3 crappy toys?

If I was only buying 1 pistol and my budget was under $2,000, I would go B&T. Too many people on the HK forums have had problems with MKEs.

Given that the Scorpion was designed/sold as a SMG to foreign markets first, and then became a PCC later, I am having a hard time believing that catastrophic failures are commonplace with good ammo.  Military buyers would not accept that.

CZ is not known for making marginal or unsafe firearms.  I bet the failures you posted are due to poor quality ammo, more than anything else.

New 3+ is sooooo sick. Other than new magazines it's the best in every regard over the previous Gen.

And 30rd mags are readily Available already and cheap and magpul is gearing up for the newer style

Just got mine for $1100

I enjoy my MPX, but if I did another PCC again it would be some variation of the roller-locked action.  I shot one integrally suppressed (with happy switch) and it was incredibly controllable.  The MPX is smooth but not that smooth.

Sig MPX too spendy and tends to get unsupported when the next gen arrives.  I can only afford 1 mag.

MP5, way too spendy for an actual, but my .mil time with them was FUN.  We kept one as a truck gun and we didn't know what that meant.  Controls not the easiest to use in a stressful situation and lack of LRBHO are annoying when compared to more modern weapons.  Copy guns seem to be not near as reliable and wouldn't trust my life with one.

PSA AR7, looked promising until you read the countless FTF issues with HP ammo.  I want a self defense PCC 100% reliable with HP.  Also heavy.

B&T, I'm poor and would keep one in the safe if owned.

CMMG Banshee.  This one seemed to check all my boxes.  In-person it somehow feels a lot heavier than it should to me and the AR buffer tube sucks for length.  Expensive, but it seems very quality almost too pretty to be a work gun.

Thought about a cheapo Extar, but the new version proprietary non-collapsing crap brace ruins it for me.  Too long and looks like something I'd use for ice climbing.

Foxtrot Mike FM9, seems ok and maybe an option?  Blowback AR9 operation sucks and not sure how well it would supress when I jb weld an oil filter on during end days in Minecraft.

Stribog SP9A3S.  Seems neat and maybe my #1, but I haven't seen one in the wild.  Unfortunately it looks like it needs to be modified like the entire lower replaced, which isn't on my to-do list.  Also, plenty of reviews showing it hates HP ammo.

I voted and bought a CZ Scorpion.
Then decided I'm too lazy to modify it before even shooting it.  It's one of those guns that needs a few things to feel normal in my opinion.  I know, just grip and safety for starters.

So I have a NIB FDE Scorpion pistol that I'd like to maybe sell.  What's it worth face to face sale in Dallas area?  I've never sold a gun.  Lol.

My Scorpion looks like this because this is where I bought it:
