You're not over reacting. Shop around for another maid. I suggest something along these lines.

I would have had the police escort them off the property after conducting a body search for any "accidentally pocketed" property of mine including medicines.
Of course they'd be fired. And the company they work for would get one blistering phone call from me. |
|
Not GTFO; instead it would be Carry On and a discreet phone call to The Man.

If the door was locked that I wanted to get into, I'd get in. If I caught the damn maid with her panties around her ankles, then that would just teach her a lesson not to use the restroom that she's supposed to be cleaning. If she needed to use the restroom that badly, she could use the guest bathroom. View Quote |

So my wife and I hired a high end maid service. Very costly, supposedly very professional. They showed up today (the first day) and started cleaning in the master bath. As we were told they would do. My wife wanted them to wear little booties on their shoes in the house since our daughter plays on the floor. About 10 minutes after they got here, my wife went up to take them the booties. When she got up there, they were in the master bath with the door shut and LOCKED. She said she had to wait at least 1 minute for them to open the door. She said that one of them acted like she was using the bathroom and even asked the other for toilet paper. The only thing is, there WAS toilet paper in the room with the toilet - and the room with the toilet has its own door independent of the master bath area. Why would she be asking for TP, why would the main door be shut and locked? When they finally opened the door my wife saw one of her bottles of medicine on the counter. A bottle of Concerta that was inside a drawer 10 minutes ago. I think they were rummaging through our drawers looking for meds to steal and forgot to put that one away while they were scrambling. They aren't supposed to clean in the drawers, period. Why the fuck was the medicine on the counter? I've already called the maid service, I want them out. Just wondering if I'm overreacting or not. A.W.D. I was simply asking if I was overreacting or not. |

Not overreacting. Maids were thieves. Who knows what else might have gone missing.
|
|
Lighten up Francis, she probably just had diarrhea and was looking for some Immodium after taking a massive shit.
|
|
Shouldn't have cheaped out on a poverty grade maid service.
Next time go be poor somewhere else. |
|
Not over-reacting at all. However, if your wife needs maids to wear booties, you all are probably going to struggle with having people up in your house regardless. As others have said, if you try it again, find an individual with trusted references, not a service.

... Years ago my wife and I we were both working we had bi weekly maid service. Was fantastic. But for some reason they switched out help. One time we came home and found a mirror with coke or meth on it along with razor blade and straw. We called the service and explained why we were firing them. Business told us no need for last month's payment

I love that we can trust our cleaning people. It's been almost ten years now. They work as a family (in the last year, the husband has actually started working with the cleaning company instead of the landscape company he used to work for), so there's usually three or four of them that show up. There's all kinds of medication sitting out on our bathroom counter (usually including oxycodone and hydrocodone), and there have definitely been times when I've had NFA firearms (D.D. and MG) sitting out on a workspace when they've been in the house alone.
The only issue we've EVER had is that occasionally they've accidentally damaged something. They chipped a piece of lacquer off the furniture of a 16th century japanese sword sheath once , they chipped a small piece off a Danish porcelain figure once, and they broke an inexpensive glass flower vase. I am sure it would cost quite a bit to get the sheath restored, but the peace of mind of having people we can trust in the house is priceless. |

Call the cops either way. Easy police report.
Way beyond get the f out |

I don't think you're over reacting.....I'd say you handled it better than I would have.

Not an overreaction at all. Reason #437 of why I don't like strangers that just happened to be maids in my house.
Last year my wife hired some maids that got good reviews from a friend. 3 ladies going all over our house, treating it rather roughly (1st red flag). But of course when you talk to them, they just stare at you like you are from another planet, faking that they don't speak english. I'm getting the bad vibes, when I hear LOUD water running in our master shower. One of the ladies had broken the freaking handle off on the tub. It was now running full blast, with no way to turn it off (short of shutting off all water to the house). That's it, I want them out. We ask them to leave, only paying them half of what was asked. Later, after replacing the cartridge in the shower (thank GOD the local Ace had the right cartridge), I start noticing all the stuff broken in the house. For example, the stuff on my daughter's shelves is all messed up and pushed around. Then I see the shelves where I keep my plastic models I've built over the years. About 1/3 of them are broken, like the stupid bitches just took a feather duster and whilly-nilly brushed it all over the models. I lost my mind. Called them up and said I want all my money back for the crappy job they did. They actually did show up about an hour later and gave us our cash back. |
|
Hopefully they didn't case your place and now, since being fired, they or their friends are planning to rob you.
|
|
Not acceptable.
The lady who cleans our house is amish. She cleans in her bare feet. |
|
High end maid service does not mean high end employees. They probably don't make shit more than "regular" end maid service employees. Owner pockets the difference.
Best bet for "trustablity" would be to find an owner operator type maid service. There own ass would be on the line for any reputation mishaps. |

...I probably would have commenced losing my shit right then. Check the house for missing items.
|

Probably would have called the cops.
Definitely would have escorted them to the door immediately. Concerta is an ADHD med that is a controlled substance, ie paper prescriptions only, no refills, adult has to sign for them at the pharmacy. Do you know for a fact how many pills were in the bottle? |

My parents used to have a private house cleaner. One time I stopped by to borrow something of my dad's, came inside and saw her sitting at the dining table, eating a sandwich made from their kitchen, reading my mom's magazines.
She got fired. Imagine if she had been going through medicine? Fuck that, I would've called the police and told her that her job description just turned into "wait here to be arrested" |

Why the hell anyone would pay low rent foreigners to come in to their home and explore every nook and cranny is beyond me
Holy shit |

Fuck a maid. I will never hire that crap aslong as I can walk and have arms. Maybe if I had a 7+ bedroom house but that will never happen.

My wife looked in the OTHER cabinet that had lots of medicine in it. Xanax, lortabs, stuff people would steal. Shit had been messed with in there, but I think we interrupted them before they found them because we keep them on the very bottom of the pile. So now my suspicions are confirmed. They were shopping for pills. Fuck em. |

High end maid service...... Good luck with that. My stepdaughter got a job working for one of them right after she got of jail for stealing from one
of the old women she was taking care of while employed as a home healthcare nurse. |

You are not over reacting at all bro. Get them THE FUCK out of your house.
|
|
Over reacting? No. However, I have to ask, do they really have "high end" maid services in Georgia??? Really? It's not like Georgia is the billionaire capitol of the US. I'm guessing that Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Jeff Bezos aren't you're neighbors? But, yes, I'd get rid of them. That's extremely unprofessional maid service behavior. Sounds like they were in the process of stealing, not cleaning. If this was a normal, middle class maid service then I'd give the service another chance to terminate these people and provide trustworthy maids. A high end service would have completed much more expensive and thorough back ground investigations than a regular service that the rest of society can afford.

All our meds are kept in my my rifle safe. In the morning I dole them out and lock it back up. I used to have ton of Methadone and Oxys in the house so why not be safe as at the time my kids were late teens and their dumb fuk friends were always over.

Quoted: I agree with throwing them out for what went on in the bathroom. The one thing that freaks me out is the wearing booties in the house thing. That’s the first sign of crazy people. I can understand not wanting people to wear the same shoes inside a home that you are wearing out in the yard but unless you go around the house wearing booties yourselves or are totally barefoot (no socks) it’s an unreasonable request. Booties are usually as slippery if not more slippery than socks. Plenty of people injure themselves falling wearing booties or socks. Do you ask your guests to wear booties during dinner parties? The child playing on the floor is just an excuse unless you’re OCD. Kids play in the dirt all the time. I’m a mechanical contractor and Our employees are forbidden from removing their boots going into a home. Some have special work boot covers with non slip soles while others have a second pair of boots for indoor work. View Quote |

I'd consider filing a police report. Even if it doesn't lead to any arrests or charges.
Prescription meds aren't something to be fucked around with. No overreact at all. I think we can trust our house keepers but I still lock valuable shit up when they come. No point in taking the chance. |
