Not earbuds (I feel like we just had this rant) but actual over the each headphones.
I really, really like Koss headphones. I'm currently wearing Koss BT540i, and my trusty PortaPros are on my headphone hangars if I need to go wired. |
AKG are my favorites.
The old ones, not the ones make in China now. |
Sennheiser HD800s cans paired with a balanced STL tube amp like the Woo Audio WA22
Bluetooth
Active noise cancelling Foldable Cheapest That's my jam. They don't last long in the gym, so why drop hundreds? |
Sennheiser HD600 with custom PPA amp, Steps external power supply, and Schiit DAC.
I have three pairs of Grados for listening to music (SR60, SR80 & SR225). I have a pair of AKG for playing guitar through. I also have a pair of Koss Porta-Pros that I use with a Discman type player.
Audio Technica M50X for studio work, PRO500MK2 for pleasure listening.
I'm using a OneOdio A70 bluetooth set for my home PC and they work great.
Takes about an hour to charge them about every 5-6 days. |
I have Skull Candy Crusher Evo headphones, and I like them. Bass that you can feel.

Quoted: I have a size 7 1/8 head and the band broke one them after about 3 weeks of use. Walmart wouldn't take them back either. I have 2 pairs.
Sennheiser HD-6XX from Drop are probably the best headphones for the money. A little EQ and they sound all day amazing. Focal Clear - not quite as warm and the HD6XX, but amazing detail and clarity. Focal Elex from Drop if you wanna save some money. RME ADI-2 DAC for a great setup with parametric eq. |

Sennheiser over-the-ear for serious listening
Grado on-the-ear for casual listening and my ham radio receiver. |
I bought Bose after I experienced their noise canceling aviation headsets. Always used passive headsets before.
This time I was right seat in a TBM900. Just fired up the turboprop - high pitch whine, chopping the air, etc. very noisy. Suddenly it was instantly quiet. I freak out, start scanning engine instruments to see why the engine suddenly stopped. Turns out other guy just turned on the headsets. I was blown away. |

I like Sennheiser, Dan Clark Audio, and Hifiman for different types of music.

My Beyerdynamic T1. Played the audiophile game for a while. AKG 701, Senn HD650, ultrasones, couple others.
Trialed some DT 770s and 990s and liked the Beyerdynamic flavor enough I just jumped to the top of their line. I'd be surprised to find something significantly better enough to justify spending any more money on headphones. |

Not to thread jack...
A recommendation for over ear for large ears. I bought the Bose 700, sound and noise are fine, but after about 30 minutes I get a earache/headache. Gave them to my daughter. I also tried the Sony-1000. Doesn't need to be highend <$500 Anything work for Dumbo? TIA |

Or "a" trainer? |

I have an old pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones. I use them on flights so I can watch movies and actually hear stuff. I'm not an audiophile speaker headset snob. I'm sure there are better but I'm not willing to pay the entry fee for anything better

I have a pair of Bose QC35II muffs, they are comfortable and the ENC is exceptional.

Sennheiser HD 280 seem to be great for just about everything, and come in under a hundred bucks.

I have Bose headphones. I bought them because a company makes a U-Fly Mike that fits them, they are light weight and nice for flying.
Sony MDR-V6’s are my favorite. Grado 325’s are nice as well.

Play guitar and games for many hours each day. These are by far the best comfort over anything. Sound quality is decent and price is around $70, so it won't break the bank. These things have the lowest clamp force and I forget they are on. When they say they are over the ear, they are over the ear. A lot of over the ear headphones (even the expensive ones) aren't big enough and press hard on the lobes after an hour or so.

I'm not an audiophile, Bose QC 35 have lasted about six years. Pads have been replaced numerous times and I have hundreds if not thousands of hours on them.
Listening to my Focal Utopias at the moment, my all time favorite.
Bose. qc35ii, qc45. The nc700s suck.
I avoided them for years because of the internet bullshit, and suffered through less comfortable headsets out of induced ignorance. |

TIA View Quote The 2 pair of Sennheiser I have (HD559 for the computer, HD660S for the stereo) are over-ear, and I can wear them Takes a little moving them around to get seated correctly (big ears and they protrude a bit). Might work for you. I also have Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, sound is decent but they sit on-ear and give ear pain fairly fast. As for the OP, my current favorites are the 2 Sennheisers just above, the 660s sound better than the 559 IMHO. To me they have a cleaner sound and slightly better imaging. Neither seem biased towards bass or treble. IANAA (I Am Not An Audiophile) |

I only use over the ear headphones when I'm gaming on PC, and I have a pair of Audio Technica ADG1Xs for that. They're great, although they're a little tired. Probably about time for a new pair.
