I like my Tri-way, although I've never taken the bearings out.

My Harpoon is the generation previous to the Tri-way and it's smooth but takes some adjustments.

Fair, I like my CRKs based on a 1980s design.

Hinderer just does nothing for me. I would even go so far as to say I find them ugly and that they have offensive lines.

I was at a restaurant the other day and there was a woman that looked like a doppelgänger for Barbara Bach. I know for a lot of people she is the favorite Bond girl. For me, she ruined my meal.

Different strokes and all that.

It is. When I grabbed that one yesterday I paused to reflect a little. The CRKs in the “nice knife” drawer consistently get grabbed ahead of the others in there, and there are some heavy hitters in there.

As many as I think I may need.

It's weird.

When my kid was around 1 the pediatrician asked what he liked and we said peanut butter.

They flipped their shit and said maybe we were going to cause a peanut allergy. Nowadays they encourage parents to give their kids peanuts early.

Tried the BBQ place one more time. Still did not sparkle. Prices are insane too.

Trying to order, guy behind the counter kept shaking his head as I tried to order things. Not because they were out, not because he was playing favorites, because he thought their food was so bad, he was trying to help us avoid disaster.

Looks like this place has been open a number of years. Not sure how.

Even here in the center of the Texas BBQ universe prices are nuts on BBQ. It used to be a reasonably priced lunch option but no-longer. Now it's a "special occasion" or "lunch is getting expensed" option. Shit a simple plate of smoked chicken wings without sides is over $20. You want brisket, break out your wallet.

That tray looks terrible.

Never be too committed to not just walked out of a  restaurant if something is off.

I’ve walked out after seeing the menu and even after being seated. I would have walked after the head shake by kitchen staff.

Funny. I got the brisket expecting a pile of meat, and instead I got that cup of brisket chips in that picture. There was a $2 upcharge for the brisket.

I dunno, I don't recall it being that bad when we were visiting our peeps near Houston the last couple years. And good BBQ is worth it.

But even Texas has shitty BBQ.

Looking at you CC's in Nachodoches.

Oh yeah there is plenty of crap bbq in Texas for sure. Central Tx bbq is the best you can get in my opinion. East Tx pales in comparison. If you ever find yourself in central Texas, I can direct you to some amazing places.

That is indeed a sad cup-o-brisket chips.

I've seen BBQ rise in price significantly in the last two years, and most of that in the last year. Like 60-70% increase at the places I visit. Beef prices are nuts. I'm currently paying the same price for chicken as I was for good beef two years ago. We eat a lot less beef these days. The last few years of droughts in the panhandle have been responsible for that on top of the crazy inflation.

I do agree, good BBQ is totally worth the price. It just means I'll get to enjoy it less frequently.

Spanto landed today. Holy jeebus what a shitty detent and lazy action. It's almost like they didn't even install a detent ball. Just brush the flipper and it starts to open. The washers are probably dirty as hell, I can barely even wrist flick it to get it the rest of the way open. My other one that's on washers isn't anything like this one. Gonna have to tear it down and see if a cleaning makes a difference.
