I really like the 111. Even though it is a big knife on paper, it just doesn't seem that bad in person. kinda like the 0452 or 0920, although those are admittedly still a bit shorter.
I wasn't really sure about the size of the 111 until a kind gentleman let me check one out. Gotta say, is pretty nise. I am curious now about the F3. It is an inch shorter, so I was thinking maybe it is like a slight;y shorter 111, but all the pics I see suggest the handle is all different. I like how relatively slender the 111 is, good ergos. Would I like the F3 size even more? Had I not handled the 111 first I probably would have ended up with a Hati or 95, but now that I have a 111, I like the inset tab lock and the size. That's why the F3 intrigues me, inch shorter and inset lock instead of frame lock. maybe I would think it is too small now though... Maybe someone really nice will buy an F3 and lend it to me to check out

You are right though. I meant to take it off since I plan to use it, unlike the 110 which may do a lot of sitting. But ran out of time to nicely peel it off. Wiping Valentina down kinda smudged the sticker, so I really do just need to take it off. |

He had planned to keep it because of a small flaw, a line of forge scale that is nearly impossible to detect. Since no one could really see this "flaw" he decided to put it up for sale, and allowed whomever to purchase it to name it. I'd been waiting for one of his pieces to become available for some time, so I snatched it up on the condition that our mutual friend and knifemaker Matthew Gregory could name it. Matt and Rick have been friends far longer than I've even been making knives so I thought he would name it something great like "Dick Pontoon" or "Sack Gnasher." He named it "Linus." 
The blade is 10" long, 1 3/4" tall and 1/4" thick with almost no taper to it. It is a chopper through and through. The handle is twine wrapped over wood with a turkshead hand stop, and it's a full tang underneath that. Given it's proportions and that it's 5160, it's truly a tool for abusive work. Chopping and batoning and digging at roots or splitting rocks. Yes, that will of course wear on the edge but things that would cause significant chips or cracks in a higher carbide steel will be minimized and easily sharpened out. Rick is someone I have the highest respect for when it comes to craftsmanship, even if he's Canadian, Nova Scotia at that. He's basically the Canadian version of Kentucky hill people. Tell him I said that.

Well I ordered the Spyderco Mantra 1.
I am excited to get something different in the family. I have a few bucks to spend on a card and was gonna buy the Kershaw Nura 3.0 or 3.5. It is a Sinkevich design that can be had for less than $20 and I thought it would be good to throw in my bath kit when I travel. I am going to Grenada next month and wanted a carry blade but they have laws that prohibit knives. I really don’t want to be on the show “Locked up Abroad”. |

Yeah, who ever made the comment about chipping a PM2 on zip ties was right. Sv30 didn't want to cut plastic tonight. Lots of sawing to get it through. Smacked it into the metal I was tying and took a little chip out of the edge.
