Daily? Easy, early '70s MB 300 SEL 6.0... Uncle owned the dealership, I've driven one IRL. Unreal combination of style, luxury and power.

ETA: BB beat me with a 3.5 convertible coupe. I'd drive it for sure, but I'm not sure I'd DD that...they are knocking down eye-watering money now.

Stock - ZL1/Yenko 69 camaro.

Per the basically make anything rules - 30s car with modern drivetrain. Ruby Deluxe would be close although I'd take a zephyr done the same way

Yep. If be partial to the '71, personally, as I like the look of the '71s a tad better.

My daily driver is a 73 mustang.  This body style is better than the previous ones for driving around.

351 cleveland with some go fast parts in it, tremec TKX, hydraulic clutch, intake, headers, 3" exhaust, tuned with a carb cheater.
It came with power disc brakes, AC, power steering, and a 9" rear.  I have swapped the seat belts to 3pt lap belts.

If I was made of money, I would possibly get a higher optioned car like a boss 429.

Make sure you do the rear end, too.  I put a 700r4 into my C-10.  With the 2.54 rear end, it was pretty lackluster.

I love muscle cars and hot rods, but I'm old enough that I don't want that stuff for a daily.

I'd go for a bigger, sporty model like a Torino or Satellite, or maybe even a full-sized car like an Impala.

Modern FI engine with OD trans, air conditioning, power accessories, and a nice stereo.

This guy knows what’s going on.  Now that I’m older I look back to 1999 when I brought the fastback home and keep telling myself it should have been a 63.5 Galaxy 2 door.

Something similar to this.

I’d want a modern drivetrain, suspension, brakes, lights, etc.

I need a truck bed and 4x4 regularly, so '72 Ford Highboy.

Completely redone suspension/lift for a decent ride with rear airbags, and a 6.7 Cummins/G56 powertrain

37" tires and 4.10 gears, interior upgraded with bluetooth/hands free calling and decent speakers.

I'd drive the hell out of that

Same thought her but perhaps a B-100 because of the rarity and cargo capacity and still be able to pull a trailer.

Ding ding ding!

75 is a lame cutoff. Think I’d just do a Supercab F-250 or F-350(if such a thing exists). With all the trimmings especially AC and modern drivetrain.

With an unlimited budget I could make just about anything a good daily driver.

They do. A friend's folks had one that was a Forest service truck purchased at auction. They sold it in the 90's for a couple grand.

This one brought 45K:Link

1972 2.7 RS touring, no need for the lightweight as a daily driver. 2+2 is perfect for a family of 4. Air cooled 911s are stupid easy to maintain and incredibly reliable.

Probably a Ford or Chevy 4x4 pickup cause I always need a truck to haul stuff.

However, As someone who was actually driving cars in the 70's, there were a whole lot of good cars I would be happy
to drive everyday. The choices are too many to list.

Off the top of head....

Mercedes sedan.

Porsche 911.

Mustang.

Camero/Firebird.

Blazer.

Bronco.

Land Cruiser.

Any American 4x4 pickup.

All good reliable transportation.

That’s a tough choice. I’d love to say something impractical like a GT40…but because roads here suck and I never get over 45mph on the way to work, something like a restored Bronco might be better.

"Dream," "Daily Driver," and "pre-1975" is a pretty hard combo to reconcile.

Most vehicles that check all the practical boxes for daily use aren't very dreamy, and there are a lot of challenges with vehicles that old.

It's not sexy, but my first thought is an early Squarebody Suburban:

Make mine a 350 4x4 with some updates like EFI, disc brakes, and seats with headrests and 3 point seatbelts.

P1800 restomods like Cyan Racing has done is a top contender.

Tho my first thought was a resto Mk1 Escort or Mk1 Golf. They have much to offer, and the shortcomings would be easily rectified with cash and effort.

Something like Gordon Murray's. Escorts are a huge retro fad for old school Rally guys.

But with unlimited options, W111 Benzo really speaks to me. Torn between a 280 SE coupe or cabriolet.  Send it to MechaTronik (yes nobody knew them til the F40 smash up). Graft a W124 suspension, upgrade the brakes and 4Matic driveline, warmed over M103 mated to a 722.9 seven speed. Or whatever setup they'd recommend.  Shoot for a reliable 250-300hp, near 300-350 ft lbs. Send it to Bortram for a bespoke interior or see if Manufaktur would take it in. Install upgraded environmentals and retrofit some comforts like heated seat/wheel, adaptive cruise, etc

Mechatronik M-Coupé 55 AMG | Motorvision Deutschland

ETA YT vid. Knew I'd seen stuff out there like this tho I don't need and would be fine avoiding AMG content in a daily.

I'd prolly be pretty happy with that as a daily.

nothing radical

'34 Sedan Delivery for hauling band gear and running out to the range

parallel rear
independent front
power front discs
Vintage Air
turbo SB
700R4
LED front lighting
rear back up camera
tilt/cruise

Have no doubts I would drive it every day.  Done it before with two classics.

interior would be toned down and made for utility
