Unfortunately alot of the big player action stars along with directors and producers have gone woke either for the money (think major action stars whose movies literally go straight to video/streaming) or it is a requirement to obtain financing (i.e. must have a lead character be black, gay, trans, etc.). The days of true action non-woke movies are pretty much gone.

It is true that he personally might not care, but the people who finance it might. Hoping they don't, but in this age of pretty much all reboots going woke, it wouldn't surprise me.

Also if Carpenter is involved at all, there is hope.

He is my all time favorite director. I will concede though that this gets filled under things that shouldn’t happen.

Although if we would have said the thing should never have been remade the we wouldn’t have that masterpiece from the legendary duo.

I don't hate it, in fact I like it, lore wise, but I think cutting it was ultimately a good call for the sake of making good cinema. Spoonfeeding everything to the viewer makes a movie more accessible, but it doesn't necessarily make it better. Generally speaking, the works in any story telling medium are the ones that challenge me the most in thought and understanding, with some of my favorites being works that I initially hated until further analysis and pondering. In the final cut, with most of snake's exploits being referred to second hand, it gives the audience more to mull over and think about (not just in terms of his own personal character, but also in the grander scheme of the world in which he inhabits. The cut content would ultimately make it more about him and less about the broader society that Carpenter was trying to paint), as well as better establishing his status as a legendary outlaw hero. The myths of his exploits don't work out nearly as well if a film opens with a first persona account of his heist and capture, because you automatically, as a viewer, know exactly what happened, and thus, it takes away from the revere the other characters hold for him. Overall, I wouldn't put any of carpenter's works in KINO territory, but escape from New York and L.A. were the closest he's ever gotten, besides they live.

Probably. Carpenter is a flaming fucking liberal and single handedly ruined the horror genre. Halloween was shit, but I'm supposed to suck him off because society tells me he "invented slasher films", which is like the invention of AIDS, in that it's not fun or exciting, and ruined anal sex for an entire group of people. Where he actually did well, I will praise him, but he's not great, and I suspect he'll do anything for a check at this point in his life, which is the end.
