John Ritter in Jaws. Uncredited, bit when the kids have the fake fin and cause a stampede, a guy rushing out of the water flips a rubber raft with 2 kids on it. Sure looks like John Ritter to me.

Don't know if it's been said yet, but I always thought Mel Gibson's cameo in Father's Day was surprising.
I mean... that was around his big Braveheart, Patriot, etc days. Edit: beat |

They show reruns of the Alfred Hitchcock mysteries here. I saw Burt Reynolds and Harry Dean Stanton when they
were VERY young the other night. Two episodes are shown after the news and I see someone that falls into this category in one or the other very night. Robert Duval played an actor who murdered his competition in one while in his very early twenties. He was good even then. |

Jeff Goldblum as a street thug in Death Wish. He was in about 10 minutes of the movie, so I guess it wasn't too obscure, but it's funny to see him in a bad-guy role. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/221498/aajeff-goldblum-death-wish-560jpg-417001.JPG View Quote |

A lot of eventual stars were on the Twilight Zone. We've all seen William Shatner with the monster on the wing. Burt Reynolds was on the "Shakespeare" episode.

Kevin Costner in "Night Shift" and "The Big Chill." Originally, Costners had a significant role in the Big Chill. His screen time was cut until the character was only shown during the opening credits, and his face was never on screen. Costner had filmed scenes where his character's life was shown in flashbacks, but none of those made the final cut. |

Some great calls here, but as usual, some people don't understand what the thread is about. "Eventual big time actors", not big time actors in cameos. For example, Steve Buscemi in Pulp Fiction, as the Buddy Holly-esque waiter. He played a starring role two years earlier in Resevoir Dogs. He was a big-time actor taking on a cameo role.
Anyway, what always comes to my mind is Robert "Boo Radley" Duvall, and Clint "Lab Tech" Eastwood. |
