Ukraine is a strange mix of new and old.
Imagine 1865 with static lines and positions but remote controlled explosive pigeons. Ukraine has the edge in medical care, however. Much less amputation. |

For Ukrainian front lines do you mean for the duration of the war? Or an equivalent length duration to Gettysburg?
If the former, I’m taking Gettysburg. Higher casualty rate but it’s three days and I’m back on my sofa. If it’s the latter, I’d take Ukrainian front lines. |

Had a great great grand father captured at Gettysburg, died in the union prison camp at Point Lookout In Maryland of disintrary.
Also lost 2 distance uncles in the Revolutionary War. |

But if you were in Pickett's Charge then yeah, you stood a good chance of dying or losing a limb. Even so, Pickett's men actually broke through the Union lines. But they were so depleted by then they were easily thrown back. |

Gettysburg. Great great grandpa ( might be another great in there) fought for the CSA. We had other family serve the USA.
None of my family fought for Ukraine or Russia. I know plenty of Russians, after traveling. Mostly decent people just living life. |

A trench warefare of attrition is pretty nasty so the only thing that would be better is something that is over quickly. 21st Century medical care of course does shift the amth towards serviing in Ukraine over Gettysburg in that aspect but, as you pointed out, it was over in 3 days. |

Ukraine for medical care, but also because I would hate trying to fight with BP firearms. I know cartridge arms existed, but they were still slow to reload. I'd hate to get killed reloading when I could have been shooting back with modern weapons.
