OK, what's the deal.
I cannot play any musical instrument. I cannot sing. I am not musically inclined in any way. But I click on this thread every time it pops up. Now I want a guitar and also want to build a guitar. So what's the deal with that? Why? What would I do with them (I'm not taking lessons)? Any enlightenment would be appreciated? |

I've progressed to end stage GAS now. It's not longer guitars. Now it's PAs, keyboards, and Heaven help me I just ordered a drum kit through Sweetwater. I rationalized the drum kit because I already have a full set of hardware and cymbals just sitting around collecting dust.
Beware, all you young dudes, it can get worse. Way worse. |

As for GAS, they are pretty and pretty cool; what started as buying something for my son to learn on has lead to 4 electrics, 1 bass, 1 acoustic in the house...we got orange and red and blue and black, and a couple bursts. I should probably do an NGD thread in the music forum... |

There could be other things that maybe aren't quite right, that could result in such a non-typical intonation pattern. -uneven string height -fret wear -neck pocket to bridge relationship -ramped nut slot |

messing around with the pink and black guitar from a page or 2 ago. It has a single pickup, with an onboard pre-amp powered by a 9v battery, as is standard in the Laiho guitars. This is supposed to boost the high pitched squeals and lead guitar playing. This thing would be perfect for a cat owner to send them up the walls or flying under the couch
not perfectly played but is an example https://vocaroo.com/162Etzza2iXR |

Anyone have a mule resonator? I played a used gretsch resonator last summer and was liking it enough to consider buying but anything involving either E string sounded odd. Recently saw a video of Rhett Shull talking about a mule and it sounded incredible. Not cheap though, even used. Beautiful guitar too.

What are the go-to apps for learning/practicing? I have rocksmith 2014 but haven't messed with it in awhile. Is the subscription version worth the money? What about ultimate guitar, or fender's app? I tried the free version of yousician a long time ago but didn't really care for it. I saw Mach mention the boss pocket gt, which seems very promising but the app reviews aren't great. Is that subscription based or do you just pay for the unit and sign up? I've also done some of the Your Guitar Academy videos on YouTube and didn't hate them, but I guess they have a pay version as well.
So what's worth spending money on? |
