Is it Worth It?? HARBOR FREIGHT Propane Torch SKU 91037 I just got one recently and am now wondering why the hell didn't I get one sooner. I am really, REALLY enjoying using it right now to blowtorch the shit out of cockroaches and mosquitos that keep swarming on me. Get one already if you haven't yet! |

I am really surprised you are allowed to own one of these in CA.

I bought a similar but more expensive brand name equivalent 5 years ago. It was cool for lighting a burn pile or similar, but that was about it. I don't think I've even seen it in years.
I tried melting ice in my driveway once, and that was a giant waste of time and propane. |

Had one that exploded after 10 years of hard use at the ranch. Bought a new one the next week to replace it.

A couple of years ago, I 'found' a ground Yellow Jacket nest while mowing the grass. Luckily I was on the riding mower and they only got me once. Later that day I watch the yard until I spotted the Yellow jackets going to and from the nest. I tossed a couple of sticks around the nest to mark the spot. At dusk, me and Mr. Weed Torch came a knocking. I knew I had them when flame came out the second exit from the nest.
The torch is a pain to use on weeds, somewhat handy for getting brush piles burning, and worth every penny bringing fire and brimstone to the devil Yellow Jackets. |

I have one of those and they are great for killing off large tracts of weeds, you don't have to light everything on fire, just make the leaves crinkle up and the entire weed dies within a day. I mounted my propane to a dolly and it is easy to move around.
I just picked up one of these small $20 torches from Amazon, these are great for torching a weed here or there, lighting a BBQ, or crisping up the top of a creme brulee. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKRXGMNS |

After you skin your deer
All the little hairs that find themselves on the carcass can EASILY be burned off (without damaging your meat) with this tool. Leaving your processed deer meat free from hair |

What kind of mounting solution does the HF torch have? Picatinny rail or M-lok?

You can start your charcoal grill in under a minute. Coals in two.

It ain't no Tiger Torch but it will do in a pinch before it rusts out.
Cast iron is where it's at for torches that size. |

Used mine just yesterday to burn some weeds in the gravel drive

I think if I had to list a tool that was a huge letdown, this would be it. I had high hopes of burning off weeds, melting ice, defending the castle. It did none of the above. I just saw it in the back of one of the sheds. Even when it might actually be useful, I can't be bothered to try. I was not impressed.

It makes starting a bonfire a lot easier and safer, especially if an accelerant has been used.

I was cutting a chain with an angle grinder on our range last August. Not a single bush within 20 feet. Next thing I knew, one little bush, then another. Shovel couldn't keep up. I called the local FD and about 5 neighboring agencies showed up. Only burned about 50 acres of approx 150. I already had a fire line cut with the tractor around some of it before the first crews showed up. It was a little exciting for a bit. |

Skip the charcoal lighter fluid, give it about 5 mins of one of these bad boys, it saves you about 20-30 mins. And with a smoker, you don't have to worry about the lighter fluid tainting your pit. |

Awesome for killing cactus, my main use is incinerating those patches of grass burrs that pop up every spring. Buy a 20' extension hose off of Amazon so you don't need to lug the tank around so much.

It's literally one of the most worthless things that I've spent money on. Really. The cost of usage is so high you can't economically do anything with it cheaper than what I'm already doing.
For instance; weed killing is painfully slow and it takes minutes to burn through a propane cylinder...round up is so much better. Another use; starting fires. Starting fires doesn't get any easier than pooring a small amount of diesel and oil mix only a pile of delivery boxes. Then place a soaked rag on a stick, and light it, use it to spread fire. A propane torch is way worse. In short, a propane torch is a cool and expensive toy, but does nothing very well. |
